View Full Version : pirates of carribean - closed spring 2006
One of our favourite rides (Yes, i'm old enough to know better) Pirates of the carribean is being shut for 3-4 months this spring to be updated. After the success of the Johnny Depp film, these characters are being added to the ride and the effects are being updated.
Plans on re-openin before July 7th when the sequel Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest will be relesed.

Just in time for when we arrive on the 12th. Must admit we haven't been on this ride for a few years but will give it a whirl this year.

The Pirates are my favorite ride in MK but I agree it could do with some updateing. Look forward to seeing it in July

the artilcle just confirms spring. anyone any idea of dates? is it still open anyone out there......
Actually, I'm pleased they are updating this one, as I prefer the Paris version to Florida.

Whoa ALR, do tell what happens in the Paris version:D If they make the drop too big I may have to sit it out, hope not I like that ride, though popular, there has hardly been any queuing for the last few years on that one[msnwink] the bits that appear in the film were cool too!! Firm fav that one!!:)

I sure its the only ride in MK where we have always walked onto and not had to queue. Cant wait to see the upgrade.

Glad it seems to be opening before we go out - I'd be really disappointed to miss this as all the family love it. Should be even better with upgrades [msnsmile2]
I've looked all around the disney official site(s) and cannot find when it closes exactly. But i would surmise that it'll close sometime late Feb / Early March.
Pirates of the Caribbean used to be my son's favourite ride, but if I remember correctly I think there are about 2 or 3 drops in Paris, one where it looks like you are heading towards the flames.
My memory isn't great so don't take it as read, but the first time we went to Florida I remember the kids were disappointed that it wasn't as good as Paris. But everybody is different so what one likes another doesn't. I'll give it another go when we go back[msnwink]

Great ride one of our favs also. DLP is a little better due to the drops but WDW is in Florida!![clap]

This is one of my favourites so hope it is still open when we go out at end of next week.
If not will have to wait until November and try it with the upgrades.
