We have a lot of storms here....in Oct and Nov they last for 3 days at a time...then till April we have wind storms that last a few hours or a few days...you never get used to the high winds...the damage they do here can be heartbreaking...

We have have some great snow storms...and to be here while having a blizzard was something I'm glad we never missed...but it was scary....any large storm in the US is scary...
They think the damage done to one town last Dec 9th was a large twister...I've never been in wind like it...it was like being in the spinner of a wishing machine...it just went on and on for hours....we live mid Cape and our little town always dodges the really bad weather....I don't think I would like to live by the sea/bay or a lake...the view would not be worth the worry ......[msncry]

some of the pics do remind me of our hurricane in 1987, still seeing the effects of it now as the trees that went down in the woods stayed down!! some were cut up if they were in the way, but its so sad seeing trees downed by storms!!

I remember that one well Liesa...we lived on the beachfront near Portchester Castle in Hants at the time...we lost all our fir trees..we had a second floor flat...a lot of the groundfloor ones were flooded...we had two hurricanes in a few years...so we moved away from the water and have done ever since...its better to be a short walk away....

But would you rather be back in England though?

We never left England because we were unhappy there...a lot of people are running from something when they leave..but they will find that when they get here...its not that different..apart from the weather...

I could live back in England very easy....but its not something I'm planning on doing anytime soon...I want to move to FL for a while...then the mountains...I'm not sure which mountains yet...I've been looking for land or a log cabin for 2 years now...Montana would be first on the list were I younger...but I think we'll stay on the East coast...

Hi Chrizzy the photos are great, I am really pleased you posted this thread as we are thinking of visiting the Cape for next years holiday. Any tips would be great. We are tied to school holidays and won't take the girls out of school so it's Easter or summer holiday.
