Hi we are considering staying at Ridgewood lakes or Emerald Island
,we have stayed at Indian Creek before so we know where Emerald Island
is situated.Just looking for information about Ridgewood, is there
much traffic to the parks etc or would it be the same as Emerald Island but just using a different road etc. Any feedback about both
areas would be great.
Thanks Mick

Hi Mick,
Where you stay,on what community when in Florida is down to personal preference.
Emerald Isle maybe nearer, but may not meet your requirements
I suggest you write down a wish list, that suits all your party.
Around the Orlando area there are many fantastic communities.
Regarding distance from the park from anyone community is irelevent if the community isn't suitable for your needs,
Good Luck

Emerald Island if you have stayed at Indian Creek you will know is between mile marker 4 &5 on the 192 in the Formosa Gardens(Splendid China )area. The formosa Mall is on the doorstep with A WinnDixie, TGI fridays , Carrabas, Geordanos, Red Lobster , Cracker Barrell, Subway , chinese take out, Dairy Queen Etc Etc,. It is a gated and manned 24/7 community with Community pool , nature trail,Tennis courts, volley ball, cyber cafe , kids arcade etc.its 5/10 minutes to WDW via the sherberth rd shortcut. Ridgewood is a nice community on the US 27 and 20 minutes from WDW.Sorry i can only give you EI details but thats the one i know.

We stayed at Emerald Island in September and found it very useful for proximity to parks etc but a pleasant secluded area in which to relax.

It is a gated community and the security guard on duty was always pleasant and friendly. There was a club house, gymn and swimming pool which we didn't get to use as we were always too busy plus we had our own pool but I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

We are at Sunset Lakes next door to Emerald Isles, but a lot smaller gated estate. I can vouch for the area and proximity to the parks, but what else do you want from your Villa and the Estate it is on? You need to think from your last trip what you found good about staying in Indian creek -which I presume was convenience for the parks and shops, and then look at what is near to Ridgewood lakes, to see if that appeals as " something different" for you. If coming home in the middle of the day from the parks, and going back in the evening is something you do, then stick to something nearer in travelling time. If you spend a lot of time by the pool, think about the outlook from the Villa, and the facilities it has to offer.

Hi Mick

We own a villa on Ridgewood Lakes. We love the location. It is approx 2 miles south of the I4 junction on Highway 27. There are a number of eating establishments in the area, including one that is well recommended on the forum "Manny's Chop House". Close by is the Super Wal Mart at Southern Dunes.

We find that we can get to Disney within approx 15 minutes using I4 and it is easily "do-able" if you want to return to the villa in the middle of the day and go back to the parks in the evening.

Ridgewood Lakes Golf Club have their own website which will give you a little more information about the development itself.

There is a community pool, tennis courts and club house with a children's play area being planned for 2006.

Hope this helps

As Jane says Ridgewood Lakes is a very nice development, we have had guests who loved the golf course there. It is also very handy for the I4, so giving easy access to anywhere you want to go.[msnsmile2]

I have to say that Ridgewood Lakes has been my all time favourite community we have ever stayed on, and we have been going since 1983! It has a really wonderful atmosphere and SO quiet, truly stunning[msnsmile2]
