This question has been touched on many times throughout the forum, but I would like to ask...where do you suggest does the best steak?

For the ABSOLUTE BEST steak......it has to be......

Manny's Chop House on the 27 just past Southern Dunes!!

Delicious aged rib eye - cooked just the way you like it - with endless salad bowl and hot rolls with cinnamon butter - and loaded jacket potato!!!

Mmmmmmmm.......

No Contest!!!!

Have to agree with Angela here, Manny's does a wonderful steak. Also like The Outback but not quite as good as Manny's.[msnsmile2]

Try Charlie's steak house opposite Celebrations, a bit pricey and veg and potatoes extra but so worth it.

I think the steaks are excellent everywhere in Florida, far better than in the uk as a rule.

IMHO, the best cut is the Fillet Mignion.

I had a couple of very tender fillet steaks at Houlihans, excellent quality but they are not as large as some of the other restaurants. However, for me quality is better than quantity, and they were consistent.

Didn't enjoy mine at the Red Lobster, very tough and fatty, I wouldn't go back.

Manny's is certainly the best value for a fantastic steak at incredibly low prices.

If you are willing to spen 3 times more then Charlies Steakhouse opposite Celebration and Key W Cools are excellent, but pricey!
$$$$

If you are a member of a frequent flyerclub, then you can sign up with iDine and get miles while you eat at Key W Cools (for a bill of $150 I got 450 miles - not bad)

Can also highly recommend Garry's Oyster Bar on the 17-92.

Looks a bit of shack from the outside - but absolutely FANTASTIC food!!!

We have been known to alternate between Garry's and Manny's - steak one night, seafood the next!!!

Just been to Manny's Chop House on the 27...they were queueing out the door (Full of Americans too which is a good sign). An hour long wait. Decided to take their phone number and book a table at a later date. Appears to be an extremely popular place. Would recommend anyone do the same if they are planning on going there...Full report to follow.......

Manny's is not bad overall and I am a fan but the food is plain and simple home cooking, the salad is one of the tastiest around but if you want a really decent steak try somewhere like Paccinos or Charleys, I like my steaks fat and medium rare and had perfect steaks in both places. Absolutely hated the Outback on the two occassions I have been there.

Colorado house of beef will take some beating if you haven't been there yet. Outback is very good but Colorado house of beef shaded them.

Charley's would rate as my No.1, but it is rather expensive and I would only eat there on a special occasion.
Manny's is, however a close second and far more affordable.
When we were out last month, we did Charley's once (we weren't paying!!) and Manny's twice!
The salad bowl at Manny's is the best around in my opinion!

Just back from Manny's. Had to book a table and wait an extra 30 minutes but well worth the wait. Started off with some of the world's largest onion rings, mozzarella stix which went down well with the kids and as has already been spoke about, a yummy salad bowl. I ordered a 24oz Porterhouse (hungry after a day around Disney) which was very, very nice. Really nice tasty steak. The kids has a 100% beefburger with cheese (size big) but my wife ordered the filet mignon with blue cheese, boy was I jealous...About 4 inches by an inch thick, covered in blue cheese and I did get (a very small) taster, it simply melted in my mouth...highly recommend this one. We could not manage dessert however we believe we saw people who could not manage their main meal asking for a 'doggy bag.' Good simple down to earth restuarant with great tasting food!! Thanks for the recommendations!!!

You just can't beat the fillet mignon in the states.[^]

I have a theory about the tenderness of U.S. steak.

In the uk, when you want to get the herd in, your Farmer goes to the back door and shouts "Oi girls, let's be 'avin ee in now then"

In the States, your Farmer gets on his horse, with a few other Cowboys, and then travels a few days until he finds them, then wrangles 'em all the way back, shooting bandits and outlaws and yippyeehaain over a black coffee around the campfire.

Free range see, got to be more tender.

blott
21-02-2006, 19:53
You forgot the beans - all cowboys eat beans with their coffee around the campfire, at least according to Blazing Saddles! :D And it's 'head 'em up, move 'em out' according to Rawhide. Kissimmee is also cowboy country - ever been into Fat Boys BBQ on the 192? You'll find out there...

Seriously, I think you'll find that the steak in the US is aged for longer than it is in the UK, giving it that extra flavour.

Hmmmmm a lot of good choices so far.

I would like to propose Ruth's Chris Steak House on Sand Lake as a place to consider. It is decorated in dark wood and has the atmosphere of an old style steak house. It is not however cheap.

For those of you who can go a bit further afield, I would also suggest that you give the Red Barn Steak House outside Lakeland a try. It's not too far off the beaten track of the I4, near the old drive-in movie theatre if you're on your way to or from Tampa. It's an old fashioned type of place that always seems to be full of locals.

We have to agree with Penelope. The Longhorn Steakhouse next to Masters Inn and Orange world on the 192 (around marker 10) does THE best steak and mash potatos this side of Nagasaki!! Better than Houlihans and cheaper than anywhere else - 5 adults, 5 meals and a couple of beers = 4130 including the tip! We cant stay away. We were just over there for 9 days and went there 7 days. We recommend all our guests go and none are disappointed! New York Strip here I come!!!!

Hi Mark, I think the Mannys that people on here are talking about it the one on the US27 almost opposite to Southern Dunes Community.

It is a fantastic place to eat.
