Hi Everyone

Need some help and advice here please. In Summer 2004, when my daughter has finished her GCSEs we are taking her and 3 of her best friends out to the villa for a 3 week vacation. Only my daughter has been to Florida before, so we will be doing the Parks etc. during the day.

What I am looking for please are suggestions on places that I can take 4 x 16 year olds to in the evening where they can enjoy themselves. They can't drink or go to clubs but would like to be able to 'go out' ocassionally. Are there any discos, youth clubs etc. that they could go to that are aimed at this age group? Does Disney or Universal do anything special for middle teenagers? Also any suggestions on other places that the girls might really enjoy during the day? Any ideas welcomed as I want to make this a memorable holiday for them all.

Last year there were teen nights at Universal - 13 - 19yr olds (so our then 17yr old was prepared to go!). $5 entrance included a free cola. Thye enjoyed them, although found them "very American" - obvious I would have thought!I think that means the music is different etc. I think the time was 7 til midnight, I certainly remember the midnight collections!

We did the cinema a few times, also Disney is open late, so that was fun. Frankly, shopping and sunbathing were a big success as well, but I think they would have enjoyed promenading somewhere as you can in Europe. We probably should have tried Boardwalk, but they were usually very happy chilling out with the music on full blast or wall to wall MTV / I love Lucy etc.

We did have a couple of days of nails / hair etc. - big success! This was 2 14yr olds and the 17yr old who is currently sitting 2 A levels today and is incommunicado as they clashed on the timetable.:(

Thanks Fiona. I'll check out the teen nights.
Am also asking some local friends if they know of anything that this age group can do in the evening. There must be something for the local kids!! Will let you know if I find anything, as it might interest your girls as well.

Anyone else going to be in Fl. with teenagers from approx. 28 June 2004 for 3 weeks? Maybe we could get them together?

There is a Roller Jam on the 192 which might give them a few laughs.
We could well be over there at that time depending on the finish of the A levels.

Steph, the A-Levels finish first, so you should be free at about the same time! I know that the girls will all have finished their GCSEs around 18 June, but they have a School Ball to attend on the last Saturday in June, which is why we aren't going until 28th.

Is a Roller Jam like a Skating rink?

If you're there at that time then please let me know Chrissy. I'd love for the girls to be able to meet others, both boys and girls, and make new friends.

Carla,

You could do Pleasure Island at Downtown Disney. Persons under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, check out http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/waltdisneyworld/parksandmore/entertainment/clubgroupingindex?id=DDPleasureIslandClubGrping
I think I also read on the Discovery Cove web-site that they are doing sleep overs, this may be quite expensive for that number, but sounded quite fun.

The other thing might be the Kissimmee classic car parade on Saturday nights, which is free and meant to have a good atmosphere.

The Summer Teen nights at Universal are every Monday and Wednesday until August 13th.

Have a great holiday,

Euan

My daughter also takes her GCSEs next year and we intend going to Florida for three weeks the end of June, taking advantage of the cheaper flights. We hope to fit in a few days in Las Vegas during the holiday.

We are going to Florida in July this year and Laura is taking a friend. They intend going to the Teen night in Universal. So will let you know how it goes.

Great Julie, perhaps yours can meet up with ours!! Sounds as though there will be quite a number of middle/late teens in Florida next Summer. Maybe we should get them together and they could do some things as a group.

Thanks Euan. We also thought of taking them to the Improv. show at Pleasure Island, as last time we saw that it was very good. I don't know how long I can cope with the Motion Club, though!!!

Not all the A levels finish first, my friends son doesn't finish his till the 24th June this year and one of Michelles maths papers she is doing tomorrow is an A2 paper.

Yes the Roller Jam is a skating rink with disco .

We too are hoping to get the cheaper flights before June 30th but knowing our luck they'll change the pricebreak date.

On one of the tv programmes the other day they mentioned that Typhoon Lagoon offers surfing lessons in the evening on Tues and it's either Thurs or Friday. Another thing that our daughter quite fancies having a go at but not in the sea with all the other creepy crawly things (and for about 5 years she told everyone she was going to be a marine biologist!)
