I would like you all to be aware of something that has happened to me.
Last week I received 2 text messages from a number I did not know and they were deleted without been opened. I then realised there was no credit on my phone, when I topped up money was instantly removed!!
On phoning Vodaphone they explained that I had had 5 in the last 2 weeks and it did not make any difference that I did not open them, just the fact that they had hit a live number let them remove credit.
Vodaphone told me who they were and at £1.50 per time, gave me a telphone number and a code to put a block on them. I have rung the company concerned and I have to put my request for a refund in writing!!! They were not at all suprised that I was cross and couldn't really have cared less.
Vodaphone told me this is a big problem and is very very common and usually people dont notice that credit has gone!!!
I have the company if anybody wants it and the number, not sure if I could have posted it on here, but if I am told it is OK I will post it.
I wouldn't want anyone else to get caught out. I don't use my phone very much thats probably why I noticed.

Ray is on vodaphone (work phone)and hasn't had any problems, myself and our boys switched to O2 after the trouble with our eldests problems. Don't suppose that any network is exmpt from these scams though.:(

Does this only happen if you have a Pay as you Go phone?

I got their phone number from orange. Orange would not put a block on the text messages.

What a rip off though, the networks are making money out of the poor phone owner, the really should look after their customers better.[msnmad]

I told the company i was going to inform the police if they did not stop the texts. That actually stopped them, and they made contact with me, they ignored my phone calls and e-mails previously. The police said they could do nothing, as they were not threatening texts.

You would think in this day and age that they would be able to stop them, the money that is costs must be £££££££££££££, they are raking it in, it makes me so mad:(:(

we had one similar to this, my daughter signed up for mobile ring tones, one morning she had £10 put on, 2 hours latewr it ate a £5's worth! i sent an email ordering them to stop! so 2 hours after they sent an email acknowledging my email they still did it! i sent another email, very apologetic and refunded her the £5!! not great but still something!
i hope they dont get hold of mine! well not likely to its never got money on it!!!
