I have a criticism of Florida.[:O][:O][msnembarrased][msnwink][:O][xx(]
No really.
Me and Mrs. Macka like getting dressed up. (ooh eeer missus).
Not all the time, and it is nice not to have to, but we do like to get dressed up to go out for dinner every now and then, but Orlando/kissimmee is really very badly catered for if you want to go out and have a very special meal. The only three we have found are Chalet Suzanne which is a long way away down Hwy 27, "Dux" in the Peabody Hotel, and The Summerhouse at Siesta key, which they have now closed and built condo's. (Tragedy.)
Does anyone else miss this?
Try Seasons 52 at Dr. Phillips and Charleys Steak House near Orange Blossom Trail and Florida Mall. There's another Steak restaurant at Dr. Phillips which is very exclusive. In fact there are several restaurants in the Dr Phillips area which are classy places and have a dress code, mainly because there are many wonderful developments around there where some very wealthy people live. All of these restaurants are used by locals rather than shorts and T-shirts wearing tourists.[msnsmile2][msnsmile2]
Victoria and Albert at the Grand Floridian is another one - very special.

Most definately. I get dressed up everytime we go out for a meal at home. The only place I have felt truly comfortable done up to the nines in Orlando was at Victoria and Alberts in the Grand Floridian. Another place where you can tog up nicely is Texas De Brazil as it is quite nice inside and you would not look out of place dressed nicely. I know not everyone likes to dress up for dinner and it is indeed a personal choice but it is nice to make the effort. We visited Charleys and although it was expensive I did not think it was that posh, great food though. Pacinos is nice on the 192 but it gets the football shirt crown which I was amazed at.

Have you tried Chalet Suzanne Paul?
We went along to take a look last time we were out, as we spotted it on the way back from Eagle Ridge Mall. Didn't feel that we were appropriately dressed, so didn't actually stay to eat.
I would be interested to know what it is like though!
Thanks very much Carla, CDV. I've not come across these before, although I've seen previous posts about V&A's. They've gone into my little black book.
Mackay Motto.
"Never knowingly underdressed".[msnsmile2]

Hiya Chris, no, we haven't eaten there, we booked for our last visit as it was a special occasion while we were there, Our villa owner was a regular though and he told us about it. It is very very good I believe, expensive yes, certainly, but if you go to their modest website you can see they put a lot of thought into the food for sure.
They do have rooms so you can stop overnight which are also very expensive, but we wouldn't go if we couldn't have a few glasses of wine so we'd take a taxi, which works out pretty much the same as stopping over. The rooms look fantastic by the way.
As it turned out we had to call them and cancel, but we'll try and give it a go another time.
I'm sure someone here has been though if I remember rightly?
Yes Chris,
Do a search on Chalet Suzanne, there's quite a few hits in there.
Paul.
Paul I always feel 'overdressed' in Florida, I don't do shorts or trainers unless I am on my treadmill[msnwink]
Try Winter Park very classy[msnwink]
I never feel overdressed Julie. Even that time when I wore my Tux to the bottle bank.[msnsmile2]
I'd much rather be overdressed than underdressed.

Hey if it's good enough for The Fonz, that's good enough for me:D[8D]!
If you go Macka, let us know what it is like and we will try it next year.
I think this is going on our list of places to try in .... 17 days! In fact will do a full report on all the new restaurants we try as we are not accompanied by ED who is a fusspot and will hardly eat anything except chicken!

I know if my husband hears about this one he will be anxious to try and then I'll have to get dressed up. This means I'll have to buy something new because I only have casual clothes in my lock -up[msnwink]

We went to Texas De Brazil after a day at Wet and Wild so were in tshirts and shorts with wet hair. It was sooo embarrassing[msnembarrased] but the food was great.
