Must admit I went into the Apple store at Bluewater for the first time the other day, soon came back out as I was too bamboozled by the science to try and figure much of it out (doesn't mix well with Christmas shopping) - I was in the "pair of pjs from the Disney store frame of mind at the time"!

I know - typical.

Just planning what time I need to get up to get there for the opening as I'd love one of the t-shirts they give to the 1st 1000 people on opening. If I set off at 7:30am at the latest I should be there in plenty of time [msnwink]

Great news, going Xmas shopping there in a couple of weeks, will have to drag Jane in and point out what Father Christmas will hopefully be delivering.

John

It is the great value goody bags that you should be going for.
Based on previous openings - approx £500 value for £250 I think it was.

Those who have been to an opening say it is worth doing for the atmosphere - must be like a premiere!

Is engraving only available when buying online, or can it be done in store -- either here or in US.

It's only available if you buy online at the Apple Store.

Thanks John and Sarah. I'm going over to our house in Orlando for a few days in December and was going to get my daughter one for Xmas, but may need to order online if my wife thinks she would like it engraved.

Good idea - I suspect you could buy one from an Apple Store and try and get it engraved elsewhere but you might struggle to find someone prepared to engrave it as they would be worried about the cost if they make a mistake. At least if you order it from Apple they carry the risk.

Just back home now. I took Isaac with me so have 2 t-shirts now [msnsmile2]

I've put some more pictures online at http://homepage.mac.com/therookery/PhotoAlbum5.html - it got a lot busier and they still had a queue outside the store when we left as it was so packed inside.

It was great fun, with all the Store staff keeping the line waiting outside entertained by getting us to shout APPLE as loud as we could, followed by a huge Mexican Wave right along the line from start to finish and then as the shutters went up, all the staff did a huge Conga dance past all the queue [msnsmile]

Hey, you and Isaac can call yourselves the Apple twins! :D

OK now, 'fess up... what did you buy?

LOL - not much actually as I've got too many gadgets already. I did get an iSight (an Apple version of the webcam) and Isaac and Freya got a game each. Other than that we just had a good look round as it's so good to see an Apple Store reasonably local to us [msnsmile].
