Do they still make the ipod mini, I thought that the Nano had superceded it. On their site they seem to have the Nano, the shuffle and the original ipod.[msnsmile]

The Mini has been replaced with the Nano. It's a better iPod. I've bought two for my kids this Christmas.
Look at the Apple site and get them engraved free by Apple.

I am willing to sell my Silver iPod mini in a black leather case, as I am about to get a new iPod video. I know it is not necessarily the same as brand new - but nevertheless!!
The IPOD mini was changed to the IPOD NANO. A much better player with better battery life.
You can still get the IPOD mini on Amazon.co.uk but I would go with the Nano if I were you, it is real small and better screen etc. Apple have solved the screen issue now.
You can still get hold of Ipod mini,s but the Nano has replaced it. You wont be able to buy one from the Apple Website as Apple don't sell them anymore. If you specifically want a Ipod Mini have a look on the web as there are plenty of internet companies still selling them.
pixmania.com are fairly good for gadgets
Hi
i would check out pricerunner.co.uk
they will compare prices for you high street and internet based

Thanks for all the help - I have managed to change my daughters mind about an ipod mini and now she wants a nano. I have just ordred one direct from apple on their website for a reasonable price and they will engrave it with her name for free as well. Thanks again[msnsmile][msnwink][clap]
We had the girls Ipods engraved with their names when we ordered off Apple. Nice touch Apple [clap][clap][clap]

My daughter got an ipod nano a few weeks ago, and within a couple of days was covered in scratches. Does anyone know if we have any comeback?? She got the black model, and in retrospect the white one may have been better.[msnsad]

YES!!!!
A class action lawsuit has been launched against Apple Computer claiming the company’s recently released diminutive iPod nano scratches too easily. The lawsuit, filed in US District Court in San Jose California, seeks to represent up to 125,000 iPod owners the law firm that launched the case said.
The suit claims that the iPod Nano is defectively designed, allowing the screen to quickly become scratched with normal use. The suit also claims that the excessive, rapid wear renders the device unusable.
“The suit charges that Apple violated implied and expressed warranties when it began selling what plaintiffs claim are defective devices, and violated aspects of state consumer protection laws,” the lawyers said in a statement.
The suit seeks compensation for purchasers of the devices.
Apple executives responded to consumer complaints in September regarding excessive scratching and broken screens. Apple said that the screens on the iPod nano are made with the same material that is found in the company’s fourth-generation iPod, which, to date, is complaint free. Apple recommended users purchase an iPod nano case to prevent scratches.
The class-action lawsuit brought against Apple following the iPod Nano 'scratch scandal' has crossed the Atlantic.
Seattle-based lawyers Hagens Berman Sobol Shapiro (HBSS) said yesterday they had filed a parallel complaint from UK resident Ben Jennings. The lawsuit was filed with the US District Court for Northern California.
Jennings claims he bought a Nano in September but despite treating the screen "extremely cautiously" it became "so marred with scratches it became hard to read", according to HBSS. How long did it this take? Within a week, the plaintiff claims.
"If I had known the truth about the problem, I never would have purchased a Nano," said Jennings via his legal representative.
The "truth" in this matter, as stated in the original HBSS complaint, filed with the US District Court in San Jose, is that the Nano is endemically faulty thanks to a "defective design", and that Apple knew as much but chose to release the product anyway and hide the fault from consumers. The fault, it's claimed, allows the screen to become badly scratched even through "normal" use. So, at least, allege the plaintiffs' HBSS is representing, who are seeking recompense.
HBSS said Jennings, who is not a US resident, can nonetheless seek restitution through the US court because Apple is headquartered there. The lawfirm also said it had filed a complaint on behalf of a Mexico resident, though it did not provide further details.
These are just a few stories do a google search for more. Hope this helps[?]

Thanks for that, Mach 2. I'll try to get a copy of that, or perhaps email the law firm.
The ipod nano cost £180, and in no way compares to the ipod mini that my other daughter has, because that is still in perfect condition, despite being used in a similar manner.
Thanks for that.

Just came across this while doing some Nano research with view to purchasing one.
'Apple Computer has quietly begun bundling a cover with its scratch-prone iPod nano portable music player, company customer support representatives confirmed Friday.
According to posts made Thursday and Friday on several iPod fan sites, the nano now includes a white fabric and plastic slipcover that resembles the one shipping with the new iPod video'

There is a great clear one which allows the nano to remain in pristine condition which costs around £15-20
Could the fact that they are prone to scratches be why I saw sets of Apple IPod socks in a John Lewis catalogue? [msnwink][msnsmile2]

I think the iPod socks were for the iPod mini[msnwink]
The socks came in sets of six - not sure why you would need six, unless it was to make sure you always had a clean one on!! :D

actually they had to rename it to ilounge.com and remove the iPod from the name, but it is a good site to review the different types of iPod accessories
