Your'll have to try the Gulf one day Liesa.
We are booked for the cruise around Charlote Harbour on December 30th to see all the xmas lights on the boats etc.
Its quite a long list but I'll post one each month (in advance)just in case anyone is visiting the area.

PS Liesa I will post some photos from our trip this xmas. <blockquote id="quote" class="ffs">quote:Originally posted by LiesaAnna

I envy you being out in Rotonda for Christmas, Andrew. Always a great atmosphere with all the decorated houses especially the chap on the corner of Sunnybrook and Greenway. He started on his thousands of lights when we left in October! No sleigh on the roof yet!

Can highly recommend going to the Edison/Ford homes in Fort Myers aound Christmas. The houses and grounds are beautifully decorated. Best time to visit is to arrive at 5pm. At 5.30 you can take a 'self-guided' tour for $5 instead of the mormal $15. Watch the sunset over the bay and then tour the grounds with the beautiful lights. Best $5 we spent on that trip.

Wouldn't waste anyone's time on this one, I have stood there and waited for the paltry few boats that sailed along, far too far out into the Intracoastal in the dark for anyone to see anything. Waste of time.

If you are staying in the Rotonda/Fort Myers area you can see Manatees. During the colder weather they come up river in search of the warmer water coming from the power station on the river near Fort Myers. Drive down the I-75 towards Fort Myers. Leave at Junction 141 immediately after crossing the river. Turn east onto Palm Beach Boulevard. On the left is a sign for Manatee spotting boat trips but ignore that and drive on for about a mile. On the right is Lee County Manatee Park. We went about midday, it only costs .75 cents to park and you can walk along the river and see dozens of manatees from viewing points along the river.

Mo, does our friend on Sunnybrook & Greenway have his lights set to music yet? It seems to be the latest craze. Saw quite a few on Youtube this year.

It's memorial weekend here next weekend I am wondering what this guy can arrange for that event, he seems to cover all other events. Can but admire his fortitude.

He does have carols playing but not set to coincide with the lights yet. I am out there for 4th July. It will be interesting to see what he does.

I would not like his electricity bill Clare. He must have several storage units for all the boxes of lights and props he uses during the year.
