Hi Everyone

Remember my "just want to have a moan" post last month, well he took the test again today at 2.30 and passed !!! He was booked for the end of the month but i kept ringing the DSA (6 times a day) and got a cancellation today.
He decided not to tell anyone this time, in case he failed again. The first time he got "good luck" cards and felt bad when he didnt pass, so only the three of us knew.
We had been out every night since the first test to a particular roundabout which he failed on and we must have gone round it 20 times. However, on his test the examiner told him to go right and he missed the turning and went all the way round but it obviously didnt matter much. I think the examiner's like to see how they deal with mistakes.
It has been a stressful few months but thank goodness its over.
He has just gone out on his own OMG NOW the worry starts !!!

Thanks everyone for their kind words in the past, and good luck to all those who have teenagers still learning,

SheilaF [msnsmile2]

Congratulations to your son . As a mother of 5 I understand only too well the stress of driving tests, and how much lower the insurance can be with the full licence. Safe and happy driving to him.

Hi Sheila,
Tell Harry congratulations from the 3 of us. I know it meant a lot to you as well.
Now as good things come in threes, I am sure that house buyer is just around the corner.
Will speak soon

Thanks to all, we are thrilled. Just had a takeaway to celebrate. He said its better than getting his GCSE results !!!

Angela, oooooh fingers crossed we get a buyer, that will be the icing on the cake. At least the agent is not (yet) suggesting we drop the price.

Take care

Great news!!

I read your previous posting when he failed and felt for you all.
I don't think our children realise how strongly their disappointments are felt by us parents.

Too true, i was a nervous wreck and asking his Grandad (who we lost 8 years ago) to a) help him pass and b) look after him if he did !!!

No parenting book can prepare you for this level of stress !!

Tell him well done Sheila. My stepmum didnt do much for my confidence when my daughter passed and she told me about the worries she had when my two half sisters passed their tests, she'd just about got used to them going out on their own and not relaxing till they came back and they both then went and got omotorbikes!!!

"and how much lower the insurance can be with the full licence."

We found the opposite with the full licens, the insurance went up and couldnt understand why the figured that as a learner you would always have to have someone else in the car but once passed then you could be out on your own.

Thanks everyone for your best wishes, its just given him the confidence boost he needed.

Hasnt even been 24 hours but he's already suggested "metal" pedals, sporty gear stick, and various
other adornments for the interior. I wouldnt mind but its "MY" car!!

congratulations to you both. It was worth all the phone calls in the end. As you say NOW your worries start, but I am sure he is a sensible lad and practice makes perfect.

Shirley,

Congratulate him from us, your persistance paid off didn't it, we over in Florida soon so our son is waiting until we come back now as he couldn't get a cancellation for before we go. He is looking forward to our trip so this has taken his mind off it that and his new girlfriend - they are still going strong - quite serious for him they only normally last a couple of days. CONGRATULATIONS once again and we hope you manage to sell your house soon and get over to Florida permanently.

Regards

Sandra and Victor.

Hi Everyone

Two days is a long time in the life of a teenager. A spaceship shaped object has appeared in my cigarette lighter (air freshener), my cd's have been returned to the house, a large bag of pear drops has been deposited in the glove compartment but at least all talk of flashing gear knobs has been put on hold for now.

Sandra and Victor - I have everything crossed for your son, hopefully he will do it this time and will be a better driver for it.

Ravtino - sometimes "our" car, sometimes "his", i think he's becoming sensible he actually leaves 15 mins early for work to "get a parking space".

I shall be back on the cancellation line in a couple of weeks, my nephew wants to take his test and his parents are going on holiday. As I am fortunate enough not to work i have been assigned to telephone duty.

The joys of parenthood,

SheilaF
