So I finally took the plunge and bought a mini I-Pod last week. I spent all weekend loading up my songs, charged it up and the battery died within 2 hours. So charged it up again and now its dead completey :(won't switch on or even charge up

I am NOT happy, now have to treck into town on saturday and swap it over.

My dilema is that in the week the 20gb I-Pod is reduced and now I am thinking about getting a refund on the busted mini one and splashing out on the 20gb.

Have anyone else had this problem with their mini I-Pod? aren't you suppossed to get 18 hours playback from them?

Help please before I loose the plot and go back to a Tape playing Walkman[msncry]

Think of it as fate telling you to get the 20G version; go on you know it makes sense

It will be replaced under warranty.
These things do happen - thankfully quite rare

I think I would go for the 20Gb if I were you, especially as it now supports podcast graphics/bookmarks

I have a i-pod mini and it is fine. My hubby has the 20gb and obviously that is better but for my needs the ipod mini does the job. I do get long playback on it.

Just for the record, my 12 yr old will be 13 next month, when offered an IPOD for her birthday she says to me, "No, they will be out by Christmas!!" What does she know that an olden like me doesn't ?
Should we be buying the "NEXT THING", whatever that maybe?[msneek]

I bought a pink mini IPod last week and so far so good. I bought the mini..sad this...because it was pink! I don't listen to loads of music really. It holds 1500 songs, I don't think I could ever fill it and this was good enough for me. I bought an 80GB external hard drive at the same time so I am having fun at the minute playing with my new gadgets:D

OK I went and got the 20GB I-Pod this morning following the demise of my mini i-pod.

It is much better, only had it for 2 hours but I love it already!!!

When I was in the shop taking my broken one back, another lady was there and she had had the exact same problem with hers, she's had hers for 2 weeks. Must have been a duff batch:(

My daughters both have the mega ipods, 60GB, and YD has had no end of trouble with hers. First one went wrong within a couple of months, she took it up to London, they sent it off and then returned it saying she had dropped it. As she had not, I rang customer services, and 1 hour later (me threatening them with Trading Standards etc)we had the promise of a new one, which duly arrived. Worked for 5 months, and lo and behold that dies on her.

We go into the Apple store at Millennia, they immediately give her a replacement FOC - no questions. And as we were leaving a lady arrived who had had hers for Christmas and it had died as well.

I have a 20G one which I am very happy with[msnsmile2].

I've got a 60Gb iPod Photo, a 40Gb 3G iPod and Isaac has an iPod Mini and they have all been absolutely perfect. They get used a LOT and as Steve Jobs says "they just work". I'm delighted with them - there is nothing else to touch an iPod on the market.

I'd go for an iPod rather than iPod Mini any day though for a number of reasons.

You can now by a gadget that you can fit to your Ipod, It fits into a slot on the top of your Ipod and by tuning into an unused FM frequency on your radio you can play your Ipod music from your Ipod through your home music system. Can't remember what they are called and don't think they are available in the UK yet. But we have a friend who has one and saw them in abundance at the Apple Shop in the Mall at Millenia.

They are illegal in the UK as you are not allowed to broadcast on FM without a licence so will not be on sale here for the foreseeable future. I have heard some people who have bought them in the US and use them in their cars in the UK.

I have one of these and they are not that good[msnscared] There is a better gadget that the ipod fits into a cradle and you then plug it into the cigar lighter in your car and it auto tunes into your radio and plays through the speakers - its brill!! It charges your ipod at the same time too[msnwink]

P.S They sell them at Millenia Mall Apple Store or online[msnwink]
