We are spending our first Christmas[xmas1] and New Year in Orlando and would appreciate any recommendations for where to spend Christmas Eve &/or New Year's Eve? Our party consists of 2 adults and 2 teenagers.
We thought Disney's Pleasure Island might be a good idea? Anyone tried it when it really is New Year's Eve? or have any better ideas!

Hi Jeanette and Gail, we too are there for New Years Eve, never been at this time of year before. Congratulations by the way Gail, how great to go to your own villa you must be really excited.
We have been listening to the advice here and have decided what we will be doing. The lads are off to Hard Rock Cafe at Universal, there is a rock concert on and the rest of us are off to Old Town. New Years Day is going to be spent at the sales as I am told they are extra good on New Years Day and then late afternoon to Ice at Gaylord Palms. Hoping to see the snow at Celebration on the 30th if we can get there, as this is the day we arrive and we will be busy and tired. So excited now, getting close.

Pleasure Island is 21s only usually on New Years Eve. Havent checked this year, but it certainly was all previous years. Try Universal, they have all the usual stuff plus bands and entertaiment on and a big firework display. An alternative would be Cirque du Soleil and then say a meal in House of Blues,. Christmas Eve would be lovely at Epcot going to the Candelight Processional and a nice meal. Soarin, Test Track and Mission Space should keep the teens quiet.

Hi Jan,

Getting very excited now but still feel anxious, worried, etc. as it's our first time to our villa - don't know what to expect, etc. - (and I'm not too keen on flying, I just like to get there!) but once we're there I'll be fine.

I've been searching the internet for things to do over the holidays and it's either Disney MGM or Epcot for us on New Years Eve. It's just a shame you can't be in lots of different places at once as every event sounds brilliant!

Have a great Christmas everyone wherever you spend it!

Hey how was it one and all.

We are due to close on our villa in November 2006 and are also planing on a trip out to Florida for Xmas. Our plans are Dolly Partons Xmas Stampede on 24th and on 25th to hit Epcot as we like the idea of showing the kids how other couuntries celebrate Christmas... finishing the day with the candlight parade and dinner in Canada.

We have done all the parks at new year and find EPCOT to be the best, amazing firework display. Be aware where ever you go to get there early. The parks do get full very quick and it is a VERY LONG DAY but definately worth it.
Have fun.

We went to Chef Mickeys for Christmas and loved it. We arrived at 5pm and we must have been in the restaurant for at least 2 hours. We came out and they had Carol singers singing songs around the christmas tree and Santa was there too. Our kids loved every minute of it.
We were told the parks were very busy on Christmas Eve but the people who we spoke too, had a great time in the parks.

Hi we arrived late xmas eve last xmas so didn't have chance to do anything special then. However NYE we spent the day at Epcot. If was amazing, fantastic. It was v. busy but we expected that and planned the day accordingly. We did New Year in the UK section at 7.00 pm usa time - all singing and dancing etc. Then there were two lots of fireworks an earlier one and then an 'out of this world' session at midnight. The floor was shaking and the sky was lit up it was brilliant. If we are in Orlando again for New Year (fingers crossed) we would have to do Epcot again. Hope you have a great time.

We really enjoyed Christmas & New Year 2005/6 in Orlando. We have 2 teenagers so our choices were limited - too old for somplaces & not old enough for others!
On Christmas Eve we did a 'meal & a movie' at Universal City Walk. We saw King Kong and then had our meal at Hard Rock Cafe.
On New Years Eve we went to Celebration for the snow at 7pm, had a few drinks in the Market Square before going to Planet Hollywood where there was a terrific party atmosphere. From about 11.30pm the staff gave out party hats, blowers, streamers & champagne ready for the midnight countdown on the big screen live from Times Square. No cover charge for this just the usual menu at the usual prices. we left there just after midnight to catch the end of the firework display from next door at Pleasure Island.
On Christmas day we wanted to have a traditional dinner at home in our villa and invited some of our neighbours in for drinks in the evening!
We'll remember this holiday for some time to come, TERRIFIC!![clap]
