There is no need to disconnect the battery if your using the mains. The battery will charge like this.

For info please visit packard bells web site

Kitty,
normally you leave the battery inside the laptop when connected to the mains as this is how it is recharged.

Thanks for the replys, another questions on laptops again,as our laptop runs on 240v and the system in usa is 110v will we still be able to use the laptop direct from the mains supply,if not will the 110v be enough to charge up the battery.

You don't have to remove the batt but if you want to prolong the life of the batt then remove whilst on mains and only charge it for use away from mains[msnwink]

In the USA its should be fine most lap tops are dual voltage, we use ours in the USA all the time without probs[msnwink]

Have a look on the transformer and see if it quotes the voltages 110v =US.
my laptop says that and 240 and was OK

All modern laptops and power supplies are manufactured to run anywhere in the world.
Don't worry about it.
Just make sure you get wireless enabled to you can connect on one of the many high speed wireless access points that are available publically, or even in the villa you are staying in.

499 for a laptop is good value. Does it have WI FI?

Kitty

Wi-Fi is just shorthand terminology used for wireless.

You have all you need now.
