Visited here for the first time today and took their buggy tour which only operates on Sundays ($10 each for about 1.5 hours). You can't book this in advance but it does get full pretty quickly - we were advised to arrive by 11.30 and pay and get our names on the list and then return at about 1.00. The Preserve is about two minutes outside the town of Poinciana so there's time to get a bit of shopping done or grab a Burger King in the interim! Alternatively, there are rocking chairs available and also a picnic area if you prefer to eat al fresco.

Learnt a lot about animal and land conservation and management - they are trying to turn the land back the way it was before us humans got there! They provide some binoculars for use on the buggy ride and we spotted some apparently unusual visitors in a couple of wood cranes. The kids on the ride got to check out the footprints on the buggy tracks to see if they could identify which animals had made them as there are a couple of bobcats in the Preserve. As people spotted things of interest, the ride was stopped so everyone got a chance to see and learn about it.

The amount of wildlife you get to see is limited as the buggy tour takes place in the middle of the day when most critters are resting or hiding from the heat. Don't be fooled by the name Disney as it's nothing like a theme park (Disney have provided the funding for the Preserve for the next eight years) but, if you are interested in plants and wildlife, you may learn a lot!
