Can anyone give a critique on The Outback Restaurant

My son who is a bit of a steak fanatic, says that their steaks are some of the best he has had. We also love the "Blooming Onion" that is on the apertisers list. Mind you by the time we have muched our way through that, the malt type bread they bring you and th salad or soup before the main course, we can't manage to do justice to the steak.[msnsmile2]

Don't forget that you can order and pick up...I didn't realise I had picked up the take away menu...saves waiting for a table. Not as good as Logans or Ruby Tuesdays.

We love the steaks in the Outback. We always ask for ours medium rare, as we find the steaks very tender, and I love to taste the meat, rather than chew it to death. I once mentioned that the seasoning was a little to peppery and they said just mention it when ordering and they will do it to your taste. I call that great service.

I always find if you go to a restaurant you are better off ordering what they are known for, if you go to a steak house order steak, if you go to red lobster order seafood etc,

Yuk, our least favourite restuarant, we had two cack experiences. (The service is good but the food was poor on both occasions so will never go back, we only went back the second time as we were in company).

Thats a shame CDV, I know what you mean though once you are put off a restaurant you never go back. We have a bad experience at The Black Angus and now would not go back, even though others really rave about it.[msnsmile2]

We love the Outback and have had nothing but a positive experience. My only problem is that I find it difficult to move when we have finished our meal.[msnwink]

I just find the food in the Outback really really bland (and not cooked right either...I don't like sending things back to the kitchen either..just incase);) I know others love it so it is down to indivudual likings. Never been to the Black Angus. Went to Logans for the first time last month and in my opinion that is better than the Outback.

We went to the one at Walmart at the JYP, it's next to Dunkin Donuts, quite reasonable too.

We all love the outback, the onion and the cheesy chips are the best.
We now go to one in Wandsworth in London, the food is a great as Florida.

We also love the Outback, but would never go back to Black Angus, we had an awful meal there.

Must make a not of Logans and try that next time we are out

Blooming onions are so nice you'll end up buying the instrument, a deep fat fryer and the powder spices the same as we did!

We went for the first time this year and I loved it. The blooming onion was fab ad the steak was delicious.

Worth noting that if you go early (i think between six and seven) it is the Happy Hour and all drinks are 2 for 1.

I would highly recommend the Wallaby Darned cocktail!!!!![:I][:I]

We love Outback but for the past two years the waiting time has been far too long. Went to the Colorado house of beef on Saturday night, excellent steaks as good as Outback. I think this place on the 192 is fairly new as I don't remember it last year.

We like The Outback, especially the Bloomin Onion loaf. They also do a Joey steak which is great for the kids. You are right though Paul, there is always a long waiting time on a Fri / Sat night.

Didn't enjoy the Black Angus much, they served the steak with mash which wasn't really for us. The Orlando Ale house do a nice steak at reasonable prices but the best steaks we've had were at JT's on the 192 (towards the US27 end). Don't go too dressed up though, very casual family diner but great steaks![:P]

Might give the Outback near OPO a try tomorrow night after shopping. Just 5 nights left got some friends coming over for a games night with Pizza, must go to Carrabas before we leave.

Can't believe that their kookaburra wings haven't been mentioned yet. Yeah the blooming onion is good, but the wings are way nicer.

With supreme mental effort I resisted ordering a steak yet again in favour of the rack of lamb.

Also the Outback in MCO is a real final treat before boarding the plane home.

Thanks Phil, hopefully we will. Ray needs a holiday, he is a workaholic. He had a bit of a close shave a few weeks ago, rolled his hire car three times whilst driving back to the airport in Sweden.[msnscared] He got out unscathed but wrote the car off completely, it was a bit of a shock to us all, so we are all looking forward to a break.[msnsmile2]

We used to like Outback but the last couple of times haven't been impressed. Prefer Logans, Ale house or Manny's now. We also tried the Colorado House of Beef last trip and that wa s also very good.
My mouth is watering can't wait to get out there and have a good steak - 26 days and counting [msnsmile][msnsmile][msnsmile]

I had my first 'Outback' meal on the 192/Formosa area last night - we arrived at around 6pm, and waited about 10 mins, by the time we left the queues were starting to get quite long.
The meal was ok, nothing to complain about, but nothing to rave about either. Having had 3 weeks here already, the 'steak' type restaurants seem much the same. Still love Logan's though. What I'd really like to find is a restaurant that does a great selection of vegetables - any suggestions[msnscared]There are just so many great restaurants to choose from here[msnsmile2]

The outback is Ok if you can get in!

We waited for an hour just to be seated in July.

Once in the food was very good.

Lakeland now do a gadget to cut your onion and bake it just like those at the Outback.
I'm not too keen on onions myself but a friend had the gadget for Christmas and the results were superb!!!

We're outback fans, but last visit, they had cleaned or mopped the floors, including the restrooms with something that made them like a skating t=rink.

Mrs. Macka actually slipped over in the restaurant and hurt herslf quite badly, she was too embarrassed to make a fuss, but I was really annoyed, at least two servers saw her fall (and she didn't half fall badly) and ignored it. That said, all the people around us who were English as far as I could see just looked on, the only people who came to help were an American couple, a fact that I appreciated a lot and one that I won't forget.

So, sorry, we vote with our feet, no more Outback for us.

I would not go back if servers took no notice...it fact I would of walked out then and there.. we are friendly with most of the servers in the places we eat both in MA and FL..(the lady in New York Pizza on 27 is first class...and remembers us every trip)....if we get good service...we pay good tips...our local guys and girls had 50% tips over Christmas and New Year....its become very imporant to me to get good service and I now take nothing less..

Chrissie,

This happened on the way out, maybe that's why they weren't too bothered.[msnwink]

We are the same, we won't tolerate poor service and we both have very long memories, there a few places that we just won't use as a result of poor service and it would have to be life or death before we did again. By the same token we tip well too if it's good because we appreciate it.

Mind you, we didn't raise it with Outback so they didn't get the opportunity to say sorry, I suppose we should always point poor service out otherwise they can't put it right I suppose.

That said, it's not a common thing to see poor service in the Florida we see, that's one of the main reasons we go.

Macka...find their website and write to them...its worth it if it could help someone else...like you say...if they don't know the problem..they can't fix it...just give them an honest report...
