I have just received a quotation for £93 for 14 days and £119 for an annual policy for 2 adults and my son, although 17 is classed as a child. Does this sound like a good quote or am I able to get a quote cheaper elsewhere.

It depends on what cover you get for the price? I like to have unlimited medical and legal cover so I pay £160 for annual for 2 adults and 3 under 18's[msnwink]

Hi Jeanette and Pam,

I was given the link to Atlas direct from Daniel and Kay and I think direct may be connected in some way. This is their website address.

Hi Daniel, Kaye & Millie,

Just to let you know, I have just arranged a Travel Policy with Atlas at an annual premium of £68.44. There was a 3% charge for using my visa card which is reflected in the £68.44, but still what a fantastic quote. I am going to recommend them to any enquiry I receive for my villa.

Thanks again for helping me save so much money..[msnsmile2]

We used Boots for insurance on our last trip in August to Florida. It was £73 for 2 adults and 2 children, this also included Scuba Diving which I thought was an excellent deal.

I like Norwich Union Annual policy as we all have medical conditions I find them more reasonable than a lot of other companies who tend to want us to pay through the nose.

Please always check what cover you get for the price................good example is medical cover with Tesco is only 2 million but M&S is 10 million for the same if not cheaper price.

Don't just go with the cheapest as all insurance covers are not the same

I agree Julie, we always look into it carefully. You can't be too careful. Nobody wants to think about the possiblity that you may need to claim but we always weigh up the policy fee as well as the cover provided. As 4 out of 5 of our party have a medical condition I always tend to overcompensate, but it can be annoying sometimes when you get penalised for conditions that are not a risk to the holiday or that would not arise during your holiday.

I have a Co-op Privelige account and annual family insurance is free with that, there are lots of other benefits with this account as well.

We also have annual travel insurance with Direct Travel at about £72 or £80 with no excess. I know they are a great insurance company as we have had to claim 2 years on the run. Once when my son broke his arm and the other when a family member died in the UK and we had to fly home early. They have a US number to call and they arrange all the hospital bills etc which is great.

I don;t know about Atlas but Direct Travel also cover children up to (I think it is 23) if they are at university and also more importantly they are covered to travel alone (up to a certain no of days) so if they go away with a friend then you dont have to worry about cover. Some family poilies don't allow cover if they aren't travelling with you.

We are with Direct Travel and had to contact them while in LA recently as my Dad passed away while we were there. I phoned their US emergency number and they had arranged flights back to UK for us within 1 hour. We paid approx £70 for a family annual policy. They provide £10,000,000 medical cover.

For those of you that need medical cover for ongoing conditions. Can I recommend SAGA (over 50's only) I am going out in October and they have quoted me £136 and will cover my medical conditions. Some quotes were £300 - 400! Give them a go.
