Has anyone been to Horse Riding World and gone out on the trail for beginners?
My daughter is desperate to do this and thought what better place than Florida (though hubby not too keen has agreed to give it a go!)
Wondered if anyone could tell me what its like and any advice would be welcome!

We fly out in January so anyone going between now and then if you could post your experiences would be great-i read the thread and its seems a bit of a mixed bag.I assume complete novices will enjoy it but anyone with experience won't.We are novices i might add!

Then are you heading out? We travel out on 30th and are thinking of going, I have always loved horses and Mariannes Mam used to ride a bit so we will update you on our return.

Hi Ali - We did it two years ago. Its basically trotting around in a big circuit thro a clearing in the brush. All flat, took around 40 mins as the horses were so old and tired. I would say that for someone who has never been on a horse before its quite safe and steady (and boring). For someone who has had a few horse riding lessons you might as well fall asleep with the horse. Its not like pony trekking in this country. I suppose they have to cater for all and not risk anyone falling off and suing them for broken legs etc. I would liken it to a donkey ride on a beach. Great for little ones who can just perch on the horse and not worry about being bumped around too much. Hope this helps. Gill

We went last year. My eldest daughter is an accomplished rider, but the rest of us aren't, so we did the beginner's trail. Nice ride, but I got stuck with a stubborn horse. Just wanted to stop along the way and graze! Was a little concerned when he wandered close to a swamp about who might be lurking in that swamp! [msneek] But overall, we had a really nice time, and there was even someone along the trail to take your picture as you went by. It's a very easy ride, level ground, slow walk with no trotting. They don't require that you wear helmets, but I would recommend them anyway for your children, at least. I think you will all have a really nice time--enjoy your ride!

I will add that there is an advanced trail ride, but if you are novices, you will probably just want to take the beginner ride. Also, it would be best to go in the morning, when the horses are fresh. They do use them continually during the day. When we went, we were the last trail ride of the day, which is why I think my horse was more interested in eating than lugging me around (and I can't blame him!).
