Where do I go on this site to look for villas up for sale. Maybe someone can refer me to a good site also.

Thank you,

Amirah[:I]

Hi Amirah,

There isn't a section for villas for sale on this site. I would suggest you try www.realtor.com as a good starting point.

Thank you for your response. Do you know any good areas to buy one in (Orlando Area)?

Hi Amirah,
We're neighbors - I live next door in Pennsylvania "The Keystone State"! Are you looking to purchase a rental property or are you planning a move?

Hi Karen,
I'm racking my brain, but I believe "The Bay State" is Massachusetts??? Am I right? Been to Boston a few times - love it there!

You are Correct Patty!

Massachusetts!

We are actually closer to the Nutmeg State than Boston!

Let's play trivia!!! The Nutmeg State is......

Oh my gosh!! I have no idea - I'll take a guess, though. Is it Rhode Island??

Oh Patty..

So close-NOPE

It was a good guess though!

Could you tell it was raining here and I was trying to escape the children trapped in the house all day!!!;)

Connecticut!

We are 30 minutes outside Hartford. The Insurance Capital of the Country!

And for those of us who just want to know why Connecticut is called the Nutmeg State look at

http://www.roadescape.com/nutmeg.html

But this is fascinating so carry on (and who wants to buy a house anyway!) Amirah try FL 34747 as one of the codes to look at for villas.

Our zip in Florida is 33897! Polk county!!! Davenport.

How can we check our official zip code? We are at Hampton Lakes and all our closing documents said 33837 , friends at Westridge opposite received an official notice saying theirs was changing from 33837 to 33897, whilst we were not notified of a change some of our mail uses the 33897 code and seems to arrive as does the 33837 code. I was wondering if there is a website to check the correct one to use.

I have learned a lot of new things from the thread I started...LOL.

Patty, I am looking to stay in a rental property for the first time next year in Orlando (4/2/04-4/9/04). My husband loves Florida and says that we should think about purchasing a rental property within the next few years. We also would like to move, but it isn't an option right now. Any help with a good rental property location will be appreciated.

Thank you all.

WOOOO HOOO GARDEN STATE! I go to the Keystone State to shop.

We stayed in a villa for the first time in October and took a day to drive around and see! I then did TONS of research on the internet and with our own finances. Then we found help and Dan went down for the weekend.

Good luck! We all love our different areas! I love the Lake by our house.

Sorry I went off on a tangent- but with school vacation and all 6 children home from school- my mind starting wandering!;)

Amirah,
Go to the home page of the Orlando Villas site - at the bottom, click on "Communities". You can click on each individual community to get information on the area and also view a map showing where they are. This might at least give you an idea of what areas might suit your needs and interests and narrow it down some for when you go house hunting in April.

I don't blame you for coming to "The Keystone State" to shop - everybody loves the tax-free clothing!

Steph, our post code on closing was also 33837 and then after a few months became 33896.
I think that 33837 was just covering too many homes!! I don't know a website where you could check it out though.

Steph, we are 33897. I think all of our area has this zip and I am fairly sure you will be the same too.

Yes, mine was 33837 when we bought it and then got changed to 33897.

It looks like that is probably ours as well now, but as I said we have never had anything official to tell us that. When I spoke to someone in the mail room once she was astounded when I told her our post code covered only 20 houses (obviously it varies - but I know from the census which block our postcode applies to )and thought it was a much more useful system than having such a vast area.

I searched realtor.com and got a scope of prices for these properties. Not bad! I thought the prices were going to be outrageous for a villa in the Orlando/Kissimmee area. I was wrong. I heard from someone that there are new villas coming up everyday and that I should wait to buy one.

No - the prices aren't too bad. Of course, it depends on your perspective. I know that there are areas of New Jersey (especially townships close to NYC) where housing is extremely expensive. In Northwestern PA, housing is very reasonable. I was still pretty pleased with what we paid for our vacation home in Florida, however, the quality doesn't compare to what we are used to up North.

You are not happy with your property quality?? What do you mean? Yes, NJ is a very expensive place to live. I live about 10mins away from Manhattan.

It isn't that we're not happy really, but you can see a difference in the materials and the workmanship. We had our home here in Erie built 7 years ago and once you've been through a process like that, you come out of it with a whole new perspective!! It's quite an education and you can't help but develop a descerning eye. I notice things I would never have noticed before!

It isn't that the quality is bad - it's just not as good as what we have here. On top of that, we are all used to basements up here and that's a nonexistent concept down there!! Not really important for a rental, though!!

Amirah

I understand what you are saying. We have a complete attic and finished basement too. The villas look like the houses on that movie "Edward Scissorhands". Paper houses LOL. But they are cute and cozy with a pool...a pool! Who could ask for anything more?! [8D]
