Hi Everyone,

My boyfriend has a spanish passport. He was born in the UK and has always lived in the UK. We have been told a 10 year passport is needed to enter the USA, however he has a 5 five one.

He has been advised Spanish 10 yr passports are not issued to people under 30years of age.

Can you please advise if he will be ok to travel on the 5year one, and if a visa is needed on Spanish passports.

many thanks

Here's the US Embassy website about visa waiver entry to US and it covers Spain so a Spanish passport would be OK.

The passport must only be valid for 90 days from the date of entry to the US http://www.usembassy.org.uk/cons_new/visa/niv/passport_validity.html I don't know who told you a 10 year passport was required but you'd best check this out with the Embassy.

Also check out that he meets the requirements for visa waiver travel http://www.usembassy.org.uk/cons_new/visa/niv/arrests_and_convictions.html
