Westridge Request!

Another question for you.

We have booked for Florida with Travel City Direct and have put a request in to stay on Westridge as we have stayed on there before. Has anyone else placed a request with Travel City before and have they carried it through.

Hi there

We have booked with Travel City before requesting a particular area. Unfortunately they allocate on arrival at the Florida airport. You will probably find that they will also ask for your credit card to take a retention fee, should you damage the villa in any way.

We have also booked with TravelCity this year, only a fly drive. We find it better to book a villa privately.

Unfortunately Travel City can only offer such low prices by taking whatever villas they can get - they, like most travel companies, pay villa owners absolute peanuts. So they probably won't know until the last minute what villas they have on offer.

Hope you manage to get your choice, but if you really want a particular development, or want to ensure that it is of a high standard, you cannot beat renting from one of the owners on this site. In fact you may even find it works out cheaper in the end - especially if you do your car hire and attraction tickets through this site.

Alas Ellie is spot-on. TCD, like most bit tour operators, use a system called 'allocate on arrival' whereby they only allocate a villa to you at your point of arrival.

I'm sure I speak for everyone who advertises their villa on the linked websites that we all hope you get a villa on Westridge, and that it's a nice villa at that.

On your next trip why not consider booking direct with a villa owner. By doing this you get much more value for money by cutting out the middle men (and there are more than one), you know exactly which villa you are booking, and you are likely to get a villa with heaps more facilities, more space, higher quality furnishings and on top of that you can tap the owner for all the local knowledge to make sure you get the most out of the home and your holiday.

We met a family while over a couple of years ago who were most unhappy as they had requested a community with facilities because they had teenagers and were allocated a not very nice house on a quiet community

Your house is the most important element of your stay;you are only on the plane for 17 hours (not too long if things go wrong) your hire car is always going to be fine;but a poor villa can spoil your stay and you will be there for over 300 hours

All the owners on the OV site are kept under very strict control by John and Roger (the owners of OV)villa owners will lose their place for violations and all villas are verified every 6 months.We all talk to each other daily on the owners bit of the site,whick keeps us abreast of all we can do to make our houses the BEST they can possibly be for our guests.

For all parts of America it is best to put your own package together.I think we Brits got so used to going to the Med when a package deal is often the best,but it is not so in the States.We would not let our house through a tour op and I think that goes for most OV owners

Hopefyully we will get a nice villa, as there is 9 of use this time and 7 of them have never been abroad before so I am hoping its good, on our last visit to Florida we did get a very nice villa on Westridge. So I'll keep my fingers crossed!![:X]

we always travel with Travel city before the bought are own place
when we closed on are Villa we asked to be on the 27 due to the House been at the Manors North westridge ,so we where near by
we did this when we got to sanford Airport
just tell them you know the area well
and would like to be there
do remember if you get the manor north or south at westridge you will need the code for the Gate
we found a lady and her sons sat at the Gates in January with no code for the gates

We have been allocated a villa on arrival before and it was a long way out. We also had to pay $250 on or credit card up front security deposit, this was OK but we were charged a fee by the credit card company for the exchange and when they paid the $250 back to us we again opaid the exchange fee, so although the villa was left as good as it was found it cost us money. The villa we rent now we sign an agreement to say we agree to $250 being taken from our credit card in the event of any breakages, this way no mishaps no pay.

Lynne most Villa owner will Take a security Bond when staying in there Villas
we ask for a cheque (check)or when the money in wired to the US bank we return it after 7 Day
once the management team has been and reported back to us
when we stay with travel city (R-QUEST Owned the villa we stay in )
we also left a security bond by Vias but wasnt charge at all
