We have just received this information from Andy's work's travel agent. Although it applies to Air France, I presume it will affect all airlines eventually if it's applied.

Please find below urgent information that we have been asked to onpass to our passengers from Air France.

AIR FRANCE NEWS FLASH

Air France have been advised by the Department of Transport that new
security measures could be introduced at UK airports at any time, as a result of the current situation in Iraq.

These measures may include a severe restriction or even a total ban on hand luggage for all carriers.

Passengers are advised to reduce their carry-on luggage to a minimum and to be aware that these new measures could be introduced at any time with immediate effect. These measures are put in place by the government for the safety of air travellers.

Wow! [:0]

I don't see how they can enforce that for long flights or for people with children.

I know how much stuff we have to travel with for our 2 year old, especially on an 11 hour flight. It is unthinkable to do the 11 hour flight with no hand luggage.[V]
