My mum and dad have just arrived to join me in Florida on My Travel.
They flew from Manchester and were very happy with the service they received. I booked the flight on line really cheap (159 plus taxes) so quite honestly they would have been happy flying cargo at that price.

W are flying with them in July, My son has special needs and so far they have more than helpfull. so fingers crossed. unfortunately flying from Glasgow you don't get such a good choice as down south i.e. virgin etc. but if their special needs department is anyting to go by we will be fine[msnsmile]
I thought the service was very good. Just 2 complaints - the legroom is incredibly tight. Just enough for me and I'm 5ft 6. Also the food is ok. They serve the minimum amount possible, so stock up on a few extras. All drinks are charged for, apart from a very small cup of tea with the meal.
Be prepared for long lines at Sanford getting thru immigration and dollar - if more than one jumbo lands they can't cope with the numbers.

We have normally got through Sanford in record time. However, this trip, the scenario Timmy described happened and it did take longer to get from plane to car.We would still fly to Sanford happily as I think most times you get through fast.

Have not flown with My Travel, but would have no hesisation in using Sanford Airport again. In our experiance it is quicker than Orlando International to get through[msnwink].

Ali my Dad also has special needs - he has parkinsons disease and they were extremely helpful at both ends and on the flight - so I'm sure your son will be fine. Because he needs a wheelchair they were through immigration in record time.

We booked with them last minute at Easter after having to cancel KLM flights. The flight was delayed 7 hrs as they had used our plane to take out passengers to Canada delayed the previous day! That said, the plane was ok, but pretty tight on space. We flew on one with the toilets downstairs, which was novel! The worst thing about it was the lack of food and drinks. I must say I have never had worst in-flight catering. You were served with the minimum of everything, having to pay for all drinks except squash/tea with the meal(one cup[msnscared]).They were expensive and as we don't touch alcohol on flights, we never found out how much that cost! Meal portions were very small and, in my opinion, not too good. My children said they never wanted to fly with them again. However, and a BIG however, they did get us there safely, at a good price, at a time when there were no more flights out of the UK for love nor money(except V. expensive 1st class) and I was glad to get there!

I have flown with MT several times and I have to say, they were very good with us and taking very good care of my and my disability. I do prefer to go into Sanford as oppossed to MCO. OK, you get what you pay for and at £240 on my 2nd last visit to FL and can't complain.
Hi there - this is the first time I ahve posted on the site - I have been lurking for a while but haven't had the courage to post . We too are booked with My Travel and I have been worried about it since we booked - it is good to hear some positive feedback, we have upgraded to Premier air - so hopefully we should have a bit more leg room, this is our first time going to Florida we are very excited as are our children - we are going in July we can't wait [msnsmile]

[/quote]Hello Lou Lou, welcome on board. I bet you feel good now that you have posted on the site[msnsmile]
I have to say that I have travelled with MyTravel on several occassions and have no complaints.
Having flown into Sanford and Orlando Airport on numerous occassions I honestly prefer Sanford. It doesn't matter where you travel in the world you will always have queues. Sanford, in my opinion, is quicker than Orlando at dealing with queues.[msnsmile2]
Lou Lou, you and your family will have a wonderful time in Orlando, you'll probably become addicted like the rest of us.[msnsmile2][msnwink]

Stephen as you have a disability can you give me some advice. my son will need a carry-on and they said they can't sit him in an aisle seat because of safety which is quite right but I am worried if they try and put him in an ailse with a seat in front if you know what I mean as there is no way we would manage to get him in and also they can't guarantee that he will have a family member next to him which worried me a bit as he has no movement . Having said that they have been extremely helpful in the special needs department so do you think I am worrying when I shouldn't.[msnscared]
we're going MT in 24 days[msnsmile2], so it's nice to hear some positive points. It's only cost £299 each including platinum car hire. I paid roughly £2300 last year for 4 of us, no car hire and a very cramped thompsons flight, had to stand up for most of the flight[msnsad]. As far as I'm concerned I'm not expecting much so anything nice will be a bonus.
welcome to the forum lou lou, have a great trip
am no paying anywhere near that but my cost is holiday and acomodation....gona book car from here as its cheaper
Ali, I'd make sure you get the details in writing, exactly what seating they will be giving you, I had a medical request logged for our flights with them last May and they "lost" it for the return flight, I am 6'6" with degenerative OA in both knees and was supposed to have been allocated a non-exit bulkhead seat on both flights, on the return flight they tried to force me into a standard seat with 30" seat pitch (MyTravel have very poor seat pitch!) there was no way I could physically fit into the seat and the aircrew wouldn't ask or let me ask anyone to swap seats, after a lot of argument they eventually gaave me a centre row of 4 seats, still no leg room so I was twisted sideways with one leg on the seats and the other on the floor with the metal seat frames pressed into my back and bum for the 8-1/2 hour flight, absolutely the last time I will fly with them.
Interestingly when I check flights with these guys their price was £150 more each than with thomsons and I was on the same flight by the look of it. Britannia from Birmingham.
My travel do not use Britannia, as far as I know, they have there own planes. We use them because having to go in July/August they are normally the cheapest direct flights.

Hi Ali & Boyz, sorry for the delay in getting back to you. "Work is in the way". I can honestly say, that I have "NEVER" been seperated from my wife while traveling on an aircraft. ALthough, 8 out of 10 times, I have always had a "Bulk Head Seat", I have been in the third row from bulk head, which does have it's advantages. The arm rest between the seats will lift up, unlike the bulk head seat arm rests which are fixed. Staff on all the aircrafts I have flown with, will never let a person with a disability sit on there own, as the carer is soley responsable for them. If you need to talk to me about this, please DM me, and I will be happy to call you on the telephone.
I have flown with them on 4 occasions to Florida and always had a good flight.
Yes they are not Virgin, but you do get a good service and the price is a lot cheaper. If you can get it try for premium upgrades as sometimes they are £100 to upgrade and give you a huge seat up front of the aircraft.
They use seat back TV's as well, so keeps everyone amused.
