Can anyone tell me what is the average size of the pools - if there is an average size.

Hi there,the average size is about 14ftx28ft or 15ftx30ft

There is also the size of the deck area and what it backs on to eg: Lake, another pool or conservation. Also what direction the pool is facing...This is important to some people but not to everyone.;)

It depends on how old the house is, in general the average size has decreased in recent years from 30 x 15 to 26 x 14, best to ask the individual owner if you can.

Generally the newer ones seem to be around 14x28.
when we bought we had the option to drop the size and put in a spa instead.
we did this as I think it is bigger selling point. I liked the idea of sitting in the spa with a cool beer in the eve![drinkbeer]
We did the opposite, we wanted a large swimming pool that was really big enough to swim in, and for the whole family to enjoy. We are pleased that we went with this option.
However, each to his own - there is no right or wrong answer.
We went for a really large pool and a spa but were lucky in that we found a company who would custom build one for us:)
