Hi

We are planning our holidays for next year ,2006, and need to book the time off work.

We were thinking of travelling the English bank holiday weekend at the end of May for two weeks.

Anyone any idea how busy the parts are at that time of year.

Cheers

Ali

If you are free to go anytime, why not go the first two weeks of May and miss the school half term?

If you want to hit a really peaceful time try first two weeks of Dec or last 3 in Jan

Heather - we can't do that as my daughters school have two weeks off at the end of May.

I know some people do take there children out of school (it would mean keeping our son off school for one of those weeks ) but our daughter has severe learning difficulties and finds it hard enough at school in keeping up, without us pulling here out for two weeks.

wanted to plan our holiday our the school times really.

Thanks

Ali xx

Ali, probably May would be the best choice and a good time to go anyway. There are lots of ways to beat the queues;use your fast pass,go back to your villa for a rest early afternoon and return when the crowds are thinning (check park opening times)

Go to MK on tues thu or sun when it is usually less busy

Take advantage of waking early and get to the parks before they open

I have had many years of having to go with the school holidays,so I know what it is like. Now we can go when we please

Have a great time (you will!) Heather

Hi Ali,
School holiday times are busier of course, but end of May won't be too bad compared with other holiday times. I suggest you move ahead with your plan - have fun!

Also, don't forget that at "busier" times throughout the year, that Disney and the other theme parks have extended opening hours, so you should have no problem in doing everything that you want to do.

Have fun :)

The only busy day during your time frame will be the last weekend, which is Memorial Day, May 29th. During the rest of your visit the parks will be fine.
The weather will be beautiful and you will have the added advantage of being there during the Flower and Garden festival, which is held at Epcot.

Hi Ali

It depends if you are restricted with School Holidys!

We love any time of the year.

May June and September are all wonderful times to go with park queues shorter. (We have found)
If you have children, then your plans may be different.

Christmas is by far the most magical time, but it is usually down to personal choice.

Your restrictions may determine when you go!

If you need ANY help, do not hesitate to ask.

Wow guys and gals !!

Thanks for all your really positive comments - we were originally thinking about July or August but Abbie doesn't cope very well with intense heat and the last thing we wanted was to get out there and find it tooooo hot for her.

Will definately plan ahead now.

Cheers everyone

We are planning to travel then as well Alison. No young children but my sister is a teacher so we have to travel in school hols.
We have travelled at May half term before and it is great, weather is usually very good and the crowds nowhere near as busy as the summer.
Let's face it...no time is a bad time in Florida[msnsmile2]

We love going to Florida for the May school holiday. Never had a problem with the parks being busy - although there is a US holiday at the end of May (Memorial weekend) when it does get busier. We hit the shops as this time as they have some fantastic sales to coincide with the weekend.

Over the years we have been to Florida for the different school holiday periods and have fond memories of all.

You will have a great time whenever you decide to go.

We always went in May when our kids were in primary school as they had 2 weeks holiday but when they went to secondary school and only had 1 week we had to go in July or August. I would choose May every time. It can be hot but not as humid, less thunderstorms and smaller crowds...perfect! [8D]

Ah, but every cloud has a silver lining (literally!!)
We've been in July/August for 5 years running & have discovered that if we go to the parks around lunch, if there's an afternoon thunderstorm then a lot of people leave. We eat during the storm, then take advantage of the cooler late afternoon and evening and avoid having to queue!! [clap][clap][clap]

May is a lovely time to go to Florida, it is hot but not humid, and we have not found it busy.

Its lovely any time of the year, and each season has its plus points. Whenever you go you will be sure to enjoy it, and the parks are so good at organising things, however many people there are. We loved the flower festival at Epcot, it is really stunning, and well worth a trip to see.

Hope you have a great time.
