I agree with Andrew as I like the beaches in Charlotte County (eg. Boca Grande) best :)

I love both but I put Daytona, because it is closer to Kissimmee, and you can drive right onto the beach[msncool]

have put daytona, have been there once and its great to drive along the beach and so sandy to sit and relax, only an hour away from kissimmee i think, but next time am looking into trying clearwater! i think, its recommended on here!

Jaff,
just head south from Tampa and there are fantastic beaches all the way.
However there are only a few Short Term Rental areas where you can rent a villa by the week. Have a look at the Gulf Villas on the OV link above and that will give you a good choice of areas.
It depends on how far south you wish to drive. Rotonda is 2 and 1/2 hours drive from Orlando; Fort Myers about 1/2 hour further.
Rather than a poll it may be worth just asking about beaches in the genaral area.

I voted Clearwater because I have heard lots of positive things about vacationing there with a family. I've been to Daytona for Bike Week and Speed Weeks (during spring break time). I would not want to bring my children to Daytona during Bike Week or spring break, but would at other times. Driving on the beach is fun, so is watching the beach traffic from the hotel balcony!

Loagboat Key at Sarasota has some fantastic Beaches, also just 15 mins drive away is Siesta Beach. approx from Kissemmee around 2.5 hours drive but well worth it if you plan on staying a couple of days.

Yeah, it is lovley down there! We fly into Myers most of the time and we would say it was around a 3-3 1/2 hour trip to the villa from Sarasota.

Clearwater was the first beach we visited ,then we went down to Sarasota, then last year we went the other direction to Cocoa Beach which we hope to visit in 2006. The great thing is that you can travel there and back in one day and not miss a night away from your beautiful villla.

Siesta key, crescent beach or turtle beach, just Paradise. Clearwater is nice too, as is St. Pete's. Longboat key has some beautiful beaches.

Next month, we'll have done Fort Myers, rotunda so there's a few beaches to go at there, let you know the verdict when we get back.

After all said and done, I reckon I'd like any beach the length and breadth of Florida.[msnsmile2][^]

We just love Treasure Island. Its one mile up from St Petes and much, much nicer. Marco Island is also fab but obviously much further away.

Clearwater for us - especially if they have the celebrations that they had last year. Street entertainers and live bands on the beach, plus a sand sculpture competition. All this and the Little Toot to.

Clearwater and St Pete's for us. We have visited Daytona and Cocoa Beach but prefer the Gulf Coast. We also love Fort Lauderdale, but stsyed over for a few nights rather then travel there and back in a day.

I love Longboat Key and Siesta Key, although I am lucky as my golfing pal has an appartment at Sarasota so I get free accommodation.

I`ve voted St Pete`s because we`re just back and managed to go over twice on our 2 week holiday. The car park is straight across the road from Publix where you can grap a couple of subs and some coke and enjoy it on the beach (watch out for the seagulls who also enjoy your food). Then nip into the dairy queen for a fantastic hot fudge sundae on your way home.
