Thankfully not Florida. The windchill was murderous and I think the effective temp with windchill was around the -20 mark at this point in the day. It got colder once the sun started to set. Brrrrrr.

The locals did say that the May temps was as hot as the temps they get in August[:O] It still feels strange to go indoors to cool down, or get in a car even!![8D] In this country, you go out to cool down and try and stay out of your car, WHEN the weather is hot:(

The highest temperature we had was in December 2002 - 90 degrees. I also took a photo of the evidence in the car to show family at home. Can anyone tell me what the temparature will be in early June, as we have never been to FLorida at this time of the year before.

The highest ever official recorded temperature in Orlando is 38C(100.4F)last recorded in 1998.

The record for January is 31C(87.8F) in 1991.

Source weather.com

There are plenty of sites on the internet that give the exact temperature for every day in a number of places in Florida. The average and record temperatures are remarkably close - not like UK where the record high temperature(in 2003) is higher than anything ever recorded in Orlando! Our average is just a little lower though!

The weather in the last 10 days has been really fabulous. Would not mind a duller day as we need to get some DIY done!!![8D]

We had 3 months of temps of 95 on the Cape a year or so ago ....its does get that hot in summer....but never for so long...just a few days here and there..and my sons attic room was 120 plus....he never even put the A/C on...he never notices if its hot or cold....it was so humid....that was the killer....100% everyday.....wood was going soft in the house.....and when you got back from walking to the mail box you needed a shower......

It beauiful here now.....it was snowing last Monday.....and now its in the 60s soon to be 70s ...the sky is a never ending blue.....the birds are singing .....you can smell the pine trees and the sea air on the breeze....we are going to spend the next few days at the beach before the rush......[msnsmile2]

When we were in Las Vegas last year, the temperature was 110-155 degrees - Florida can seem quite mild by comparison :)

I was in Las Vegas last August where it was never less than 103* early afternoon and a week later i was in Orlando where it was 93* daily and despite the 10 degree difference i found Orlando felt hotter due to the humidity, which is almost non existant in LV[8D]

I knew I had one somewhere.

Predictably enough this is Death Valley. I took this in the middle of summer. It's notable because this is the temperature in the shade. The temperature out in the full sun was, literally, unbearable. It was possible to manage a couple of minutes to take a few photos but no more. We ended up with very sore eyes when we stopped at Badwater. On hot days the salt concentration present in the air makes your eyes water but the sheer heat evaporates the tears before they can wash your eye surface clean.

It's an interesting enough place to visit, but give me Florida anyday.

We were in Minorca in June 2003. Like you Liesa we roasted at 38c for the week. Unbelievable weather. 2003 we also went to Disneyland Paris and the temperature hit 72c in the middle of March. We thought we must have taken exceptional weather around with us that year.

Altho the intense sun in Vegas sears into your skin I find it a more "comfortable" heat than the hotter months in Orlando. No matter what the temp in Vegas I don't feel hot and sweaty like I do in Orlando - not that I complain about that :D

I know what you mean:(My 2nd trip to Florida was a bit of a shock too, I had only packed T's and shorts (remembering how hot it had been in May previous!) for our Jan/Feb trip, and some days were quite icy(had to go shopping for trousers and a Disney Sweatshirt[^]Mind you, there were days it was 70+ too, and it didn't spoil our park days at all, in fact that was one of our favourite trips for lots of reasons!! Still had those fabulous blue skies everyday too!!
