Can anyone suggest somewhere nearby to enjoy an air boat ride?We don't want to go too far as we're on quite a busy timetable but have heard how great they can be![clap]

I havent been on them myself but have heard good reports of the "Boggy Creek Airboats" down the 192 near Medieival Times. Have you done a search to see what other threads there may have been as I seem to remember another co being talked of also. If you get 1 of those booklets from outside restaurants etc they usually have coupon for discount at Boggy Creek

Boggy Creek was great when we did it last year. Got the 1st boat of the morning and had a fab time, plenty of wildlife and a few gators.

We got our tickets from the link above.

Would have thought so, everything seems to hide away in the heat of the day.

We went to these last year and it was great. 2 of my girls loved it when they went fast.

We actually got there for about mid day and saw loads of gators, turtles, eagles etc.

My 14 year old daughter and 8 year old son thought Boggy Creek was better than anything else that we had been on!

We did see a lot of wildlife as it was February but we were told that in summer you are better to go at night for the wildlife as the alligators are all under water in the day to avoid the heat.

Wonderful time, try to get to the front of the boat.

When i was there in oct 2003 there was a little place to hire small air boats you drive your self ........ we saw 1 gator and loads of other wild life ..... just the driving of the boat was well worth it ........ and it was cheaper than boggy creek

:)

The two are very different, the ones you ride yourself are extremely slow at around 3 or 4 miles an hour.
Boggy creek are 12 seaters with a big V8 strapped to the back, the wildlife veiwing and scenery is much better. Pilots are knowledgable and fun too.

We have been on both types of airboat. The Boggy Creek one is great if you want an exhilerating ride, although when we went last August we didn't get to see any gators only birds and a cow in the lake, also quite a few little green frogs who hitched a ride on the boat. The self drive airboats on the 192 are a lot slower, which is just as well as they are quite hard to steer and we spent quite a lot of time untangling ourselves from the trees. We did see a few turtles and a water snake though. I think both places should be on your to do list as they are quite different.

I did the Boggy Creek airboat ride recently and it certainty lived up to my expectations.

It last approx 30 minutes and is great value at around $23.00.
The driver was good fun and very informative and skimming along the water at up to 45mph was very exciting.

When the driver spotted a gator he would turn of the motor and get in as close as he could so we could all get a close up and hopefully a great photo.

Without doubt something not to be missed and i'm sure i will do it again on a future visit to wonderful Orlando.

I made a short movie of my ride if you want to take a look just click on the link below and off you go. >>>
