I took these few Photos at Blue Springs State Park (Junction 114 off the I4) here the 72 degrees F water attracts Manatees between Mid Nov through to March. There is a designated swimming zone - but we did see a couple of Gaters! And you can also hire canoes. A really beautiful place to go to just get away from the parks for a few hours.

We did a few chill out days this time, we were on our way back from Mount Dora and found a reference to this Park in our Rough Guide. We now wish we had gone there for the day, the park is so beautiful with really nice Picnic Areas, but it was towards the end of the second week and we were running out of time. Will be going back on our next visit. Dearly Beloved is desperate to go snorkling to look at the Manatee (but you cant interact with them), but about 200 yrds from the swimming area we saw gators - so I dont think I will be joining in!

Those pictures make me really want to go there. What is the distance from Kissimmee?

Gromit - Its very easy to get to from Kissimmee, go straight up to the top of the I4, Junction 114 Orange City and then pick up the sign posts from there. I would make a rough guess of about 60 miles. For information or to see if there are any Manatee in the lake you can contact them on Blue Spring State Park, 2100 West French Avenue, Orange City Fl. (386) 775 3663. Open from 8am until Sunset all year round. I think we paid $5 per car to get in. - What a Bargain!

If you visit let me know how you got on.
