Event to Mark 20th Anniversary of Festival - 50th Anniversary of Port Canaveral
MERRITT ISLAND, FL - The Cocoa Beach Area Chamber of Commerce and the Canaveral Port Authority will mark milestones at SeaFest 2003, an annual festival of food, sun, and fun at Port Canaveral.

The event, on March 28, 29, and 30, 2003 will mark the 20th anniversary of the Space Coast's premier family festival and kick off the year-long, 50th anniversary celebration of Port Canaveral. Guests will be treated to continuous live entertainment, a wide variety of seafood and landlubber specialties, midway rides and games, a craft show, and several displays by chamber and port businesses and organizations. Over 50,000 people are expected to visit throughout the weekend. The Southeast Tourism Association has named SeaFest one of the 'Top 20 Festivals'.

Fireworks, sponsored by the Canaveral Port Authority will launch the festivities on Friday evening and set the tone for an exciting weekend. The 6th annual SeaFest 5K Race will take place on Saturday morning and a custom motorcycle exhibition is set for Sunday afternoon.

Festival hours are Friday, from 5:00 pm to 11:00 pm, Saturday, 11:00 am to 11:00 pm, and Sunday, 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. Daily adult admission is $3.00 in advance or $5.00 at the gate. Senior admission, for those 65 years and older is $2.00 in advance or $3.00 at the gate. Children 10 years and younger are admitted free. Advance tickets provide admission for all three days, at a single day price.

Due to limited on-site parking, free Park n' Ride service will be provided by Space Coast Area Transit on Saturday and Sunday only from the Merritt Square Mall in Merritt Island, the Miracle City Mall in Titusville and the SCAT Park n' Ride lot located near I-95 at the Eau Gallie exit.

The Port area is situated just across the Indian River Lagoon from world famous Kennedy Space Center where the nation's fleet of space shuttle orbiters is processed. From the festival grounds one need only look north to see the shuttle launch pads and the massive Vehicle Assembly Building.

Port Canaveral is home to the cruise ships of several popular lines including Disney Cruise Lines, Carnival Cruise Lines, Holland America Line and Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, as well as Sterling Casino Lines and SunCruz Casino. In addition to leisure and business shipping, the Port also offers outstanding fishing, dining and camping.
