"ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. -- Borgata Babes had better watch their weight.

The Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa has warned its cocktail waitresses they could be out of a job if they gain too much weight. The bustier-wearing Borgata Babes are barred from gaining more than 7 percent of their body weight.

The weight rules also apply to male and female bartenders. Announced to employees last week, the policy says if anyone get a little too chubby, they'll be given an unpaid suspension of up to 90 days to go on a diet. Officials of the Atlantic City casino say if the employee can't shed the excess pounds, he or she will be canned.

An exception will be made for those who are pregnant or have a medical condition.

The policy is infuriating women's rights advocates, the cocktail servers' union and others who call the policy discriminatory. The cocktail servers' union is filing a grievance over the weighty issue.

The casino, whose edgy marketing themes and sexy accents have helped bowl over the competition since its opening in July 2003, contends there is nothing wrong with setting weight limits. It has 210 costumed beverage servers, which include 160 Borgata Babes and 50 other male and female bartender."

Perhaps the Borgata staff should be introduced to the OV Slimming Club! The results could be beneficial all around.
