We are currently trying to complete a quiz sheet, there are 40 clues and the answers are all Coastal towns around the British Isles, we have 37 answers and the remaining 3 are really bugging us, has anyone any ideas, the 3 remaining clues are :-

1) Did the Beatles travel here

2) Foreman's Lido

3) Tell him to pant

(2 and 3 could be anagrams but not sure !!)

number 3 is Littlehampton, still working on the rest.

Arrrrgggghhhh !!

Can't believe we missed that one - spent an hour last night arranging scrabble tiles and still didn't get it - Thanks Linda.

For the first one, how about Ryde on the Isle of Wight as in "She's got a ticket to ride"

A bit obscure maybe. What were the other clues like?

Best answer so far, but I'm not convinced.

I'm at work, I haven't got the questions with me and can only remember the ones we haven't got, when I get chance I'll post the full set of questions if anyone is interested.

Does this answer come with an explanation or am I missing something ?

Linda/Sally

Will post all questions later then (don't let it stop you working on the other 2 above though[msnwink][msnwink])

Just a vey wild guess. You know, the rhyme between Beatle & Bootle and the fact that the town is a Liverpool suburb.

I keep thinking the second one ends in pool but can only think of george for foreman, the first ones got me stumped, been reading lyrics for ages

Is Hartle a foreman?
It could then be Hartlepool?

Brizzle.

But why 'pool'? There is no 'P' in the clue phrase. I was thinking of some place ending with 'moor'.

It may not be an anagram , we were also thinking it could be something pool (from lido) but could not think of a link with foreman.

Milford on Sea is the 'Foreman's Lido'.

I was thinking along the lines of pool/lido too.

I learned a very interesting fact today. George Foreman has 5 sons and 5 daughters. Not only are all the boys named George, Jnr III, IV, V, VI, he named 2 of the girls Freeda George and Georgetta as well.

Very Strange!!

Thank you! [:I]

I've never been there, I have to say, but I decided that the clue must be an anagram and just rearranged things until I came up with something that sounded suitable. I had to check my Great Britain Road Atlas to see if such a place existed!!

Yes well done Emm, these three questions have been doing my head in all afternoon, good job I didn't have all the list!!

The beatles one I think is Ryde in the IOW , already mentioned I think. Paul had a friend there and Ticket to Ride is linked in some peoples thinking.

Well done Emm, we've just returned from the pub (where the quiz originated) and no-one had got Milford-on-Sea, the other one people are struggling on is the Beatles one but Ryde seems to be peoples best guess.

Will try to post the rest of the quiz in the morning, but to keep you going 'til then how about :-

The ears and nose are missing!

(we have a choice of 2 answers so are undecided).

walmsley_family
