I know we hassle you too much John and Roger but is there any chance we can get the 'go to first unread post' back again...I really miss it and especially when having come back off holiday and trying to catch up there were so many posts that are several pages long and you have to scroll through the pages to find where you'd got too?
I'd be really, really grateful honest ...don't think we've got a bended knee, pleading avatar have we?

Ok, ok. I give in. I'll look at it as soon as I get chance and write some code to sort it out.

Ruth

I've started to work on putting it back but have not yet finished. I need to have a look at the cookie code tomorrow morning to get it working properly.

I see it now but that wasn't what I was expecting. I thought we would have a little arrow like they have on TF from the main list of threads. You click on the arrow and it takes you straight to the first unread post.

Can someone who knows tell me if it's now working?

You may need to view a few threads, and then come back later on and try one of the threads as the code uses cookies to see which was the last read post and every time you view a thread it re-sets the cookie to the last message in that thread at the time (hope this makes sense).

I've now added the icon there too Kerry. Click on the blue arrow in the active topics view to try it out.

Thank you John I'm not quite sure if it's working yet, I've only just read some posts and I've got the choc chips cookies out, if they don't work I'll try the oatmeal and raisin.:)
It'll make life so much easier.

Gee whiz, it's brilliant and saves my mouse wheel (and finger!) getting even more worn out than it already is! Thanks John. :)

No problem Blottie.

I'm working on a cookie-less version as I view the forums from home and work and it does not transfer well between the two as all the cookies as on my home pc.

Even better John, I access the forum from 3 different PCs during the day:)

We do the same Ruth, and just to confuse things even more sometimes I'm vewing on the laptop while Dave's on one of the kids PC's, both logged on as Caroline!! Does this affect anything from OV's point of view??

Well, talking of cookies... have I had problems this morning? Yes, I jolly well have! :(

My cookies (or Netscape) went completely up the wall and I had to log in every time I moved page to both the forum and the home owners' section. I think you noticed Caroline with my 9 identical posts (I only pressed once, promise!) and it wouldn't let me back again to get rid of them as it kept telling me I wasn't authorised to delete them! John, if you deleted the last remaining one, thanks!

So ended up downloading the next version of Netscape and I think (everything crossed!) that I'm OK again now...

BTW, I noticed we've got a highlight when we hover over a section - neat (or, as our grandchildren would say, cool! [8D])
