biometric passports question

Was wondering if anybody can shed some light and let me know if I've got it right in my head about biometric passports. My passport runs out in 2010 so I can go on visa waiver: my husband's runs out in 2008 so he can go on vw: my youngest daughter's is being renewed now so she will be able to go vw. My 2 eldest daughters are on my husband's passport so will need their own in order to go. If we leave it until after October this year they would need a visa or have biometric passports which we may not be able to get (dependant on passport office). Or is it different for children and visas etc. Not quite sure when we are going but hopefully October 2006. [?]

Yes, you've got it right except that your children on your husband's passport must have their own passports from 2004 for entry into the USA. If you leave getting these until after October 2005, they would need either a visa or a biometric passport.

Thanks. I thought maybe the rules regarding children and visas might be different ie. they wouldn't need one (wishful thinking [msnsad]
