Paul always surprises me with a lovely gift and flowers and I always book a table out for a romantic meal[msnsmile2][msnsmile2]

so I suppose the Retailer,Florist and Restaurant Owners benefit from our relationship!!!!![msnoo] but what the heck, its nice to have Romance[msnwink][msnwink]

Sharon

PS I found out 2 years ago that Paul buys my flowers about 2 days BEFORE Valentines Day!!! It saves him ££££££££££££'s[msnembarrased]
and keeps them at my mum's!!!!!

I refuse to get sucked in by this commercialised claptrap.
I will get flowers and take Diane (who I love dearly!) out when I want to and when its better value for money, not when some hyped up over-marketed event says I should.
We are both of the same mind before I get shot down in flames by all you ladies here.

Anti-Valentiners unite!!!!!!!

I'm doing something different this year... My wife any I have been together for 10-yrs now, but she has to work that evening (she's a waitress a few nights a week).

When she comes home, I'm going to have a pre-planned "scavenger hunt" right when she walks in. On the door I'm going to have a note describing the evenings activities (get your mind out of the gutter!), along with a clue to find the next clue. Each clue will be hidden throughout the house, and in each location will be something significant from our 10-yrs together. Silly things, but small items that her and I hold as special... For example: our first "date" we got a cherry Slurpee from 7-11 (its a frozen drink from a US convienient store). So, I have a Slurpee cup with the next clue in it... There be other clues and tokens from other events... first kiss, honeymoon, etc...

I totally agree that Valentines day is marketing, but why not take the day and make it special for someone? It never hurts to show the one you love, that you care... and that is priceless.

Why not show the one you love that you care EVERY day in some small way?

I couldn't agree with you more. I truly do try to do the small things (little notes... tiny gifts... unplanned "dates")... but most people aren't like you or myself, agreed? And most (men) need a quick boot to the head. [^]

That sounds really romantic, your wife will love it.[msnsmile]
My hubby and I will probably go out for a meal, between taxiing our 15 year old son and his girlfriend about.[msnsmile]

I totally agree and also won't subscribe to Mother's day, Father's day, Grand parent's day, secretary's day or another other "day" that card manufacturers and the like use as marketing ploys.

If you can't show the people you care about how much you care every day, they don't bother because Clinton's says a particular day is the one to do it.

Off to fetch my tin hat now [msnwink]

My husband had planned to ask me to marry him on Valentines day many years back, I didn't know, so when he said he had booked a really nice restaurant I told him to cancel it because VDay is a rip off.

I think a Kiss from my sweet lips should keep my Sweetheart happy this Valentine's day.

Gave my wife her card.

She said it's the thought that counts.

I think I'm in the spare room tonight.

I don't think I will ever understand women!!
