I have always used IE and found it very satisfactory. Currently, I am using the updated version of IE6.

IE is by far the leading browser... I've been an Opera junkie for about four years now, but just recently switched over to FireFox. Firefox is just fantastic!

We use the lasted version of IE too.

If anyone is interested... Firefox is free and VERY easy to use. It's faster, no security issue and no pop-ups! www.getfirefox.com

I have been using Firefox for about 8 months. It's much more stable than IE but I have had trouble viewing some sites.

What version are you using now? 1.0 is out, and I've yet to come across a site that didn't operate 100%.

Voted 'Other' although it should really be a 'combination of the above'.
I use Firefox and/or IE6, just depends on how I feel as to which one to use. It's not the default on my desktop but it is on my laptop.
Not noticed Firefox being any faster but I do make sure my PC is free of spyware/virus/etc..so maybe that's why

If I downloaded Firefox, can I still use Outlook Express as my e-mail and all other existing defaults? Will FF alter anything?

Yes. Firefox has an email client (Thunderbird) and it's also free and looks identical to Outlook. However, it's an additional download and doesn't come with FF.

Just make sure when you start FireFox it will ask you if you want it to be the default browser. Hit "no" for now... If you like FireFox and want it to be your primary browser, you can always make it your default later.

Just download it and try it. If you don't like it, you can easily remove it. It also has a brilliant importing feature. It will take all of your bookmarks/favorites and import them nicely.

I started off using Netscape for a couple of years before changing to Explorer which i have being using ever since.

I did try Opera a couple of years ago but found it not to be as good as I.E imo as well as there being to many adverts unless you paid to get rid of them.

I still use Netscape for some web design but I.E is my favorite by a long way and i have never had any problems with it regarding security.
I am going to try Firefox seeing as it comes highly recommended so will test it for a while and see how it performs.

I do a lot of browsing so it will get a real test:D

Firefox is also a lot more secure than IE, less prone to Spyware.
This is also true for Thunderbird vs Outlook Express.

Best thing i ever did was to dump IE 2 years ago for opera, IE is a cumbersome dinosaur in speed compared to Opera + firefox. Now using Firefox as no annoying banners that opera had.

Thanks for that Shane [msnsmile2] I've just downloaded it and will give it a try. Certainly seems faster than OE. [clap]

I am using version 1.0 and have found at least 2 sites that I couldn't view. One has now become accessible as the site owner worked to sort out the problem. Wouldn't go back to IE though!

Shane, are mozilla and firefox connected? I thought someone on another forum I go on said to try Mozilla firefox? You'll have to excuse my ignorance, I'm the most untechy person on this board.

Firefoz:- Standalone webrowser
Thunderbird:- Standalone mail program.

Firefox for me too - it's the best by far and a lot less susceptible to bug exploitation that IE is.

Good to see that people are trying something new. Most people who try FireFox (or even Opera which is much more complex) will never go back to IE.

I voted other but I use various....IE, Opera and Safari - loaded Firefox on the Mac once and it would not work to took it off too much hassle[msnsad]

I downloaded firefox and everything was okay until my husband tried to switch users and log into his account, it all went horribly wrong and we couldnt get an internet connection!!! Not being the slightest bit techy in the computer world did a system restore!! could have been something else but I'll stick with what I got, never have any problems anyway
