Cosmetic surgery is not always as successful as the surgeons or recepients hope. So, beware of those adverts that tell you that you'll look "Out of this World" after the operation....it might turn out to be more true than you bargained for!

yes of course, if you have something in particular that you are really not happy with and you feel that it will improve your quality of life then why not...bearing in mind you have done your research and go to a reputable consultant:):)

Well I am having to have plastic surgery once all my treatment for breast cancer is finished. Is it ever something I would have dreamt of doing before, never. I am not looking forward to it at all, but hopefully it will be better than what I have been left with at the moment.

My friend tattoos along the scars of women who have had a breast removed......the tats are beautiful......he also tats on nipples after women have had inplants after cancer....its very hard to tattoo near a scar....I think his work is online somewhere....its well worth looking up.....

I have seen that Chrizzy and it looks fabulous. However those of us who are more generously endowed than the ladies I have seen with this would look ridiculous!

Sharon I meant I am not looking forward to yet more ops. (And it might be 2 rather than 1) 3 major ops on my abdomen within 3 years, shoulder surgery and then mastectomy within 12 months is more than enough, but what do I know? Now they can't do any more on my obs / gynie bits they are having a good go elsewhere!! I think Bupa must rue the day they took me on with no medical history apart from wisdom teeth removal when I was 22!!

Anyway, looks like our visit to Florida in the summer is cancelled as guess what I shall be doing, so will let you know!

All the best Fiona. My point made above does not apply to a situation like your, of course, which comes under the banner of "reconstructive surgery". The results are generally good and I'm sure that you'll be fine.

My eldest son had to have plastic surgery on his ears when he was 9 years old -he always says its the best thing that he has ever had done!!

I think if your do your research and as Nostromo says dont reply to the ads but go somewhere like BUPA then good luck - Im saving just in case I need some later LOL!!

Fiona, good luck with everything, I had minor Breast surgery (I had a suspect lump) when I was 21 but it was at a breast cancer hospital and met many women like you who where having reconstructive surgery and it made such a huge difference to them[msnsmile]

I think it is a personal choice if it is cosmetic only. I can't see myself ever having any (too far gone already). I do love watching those sorts of TV programmes though, but I don't watch the close-ups, its too horrible. I like seeing the before and after shots. Good luck Fiona. Chloe

Plastic surgical correction of "bat ears" is available on the NHS, as is most reconstructive surgery. It is only when the procedure is deemed purely 'cosmetic' (ie the real nips'n'tucks) that one has to go private, which is fair enough.

Yes he had it done on the NHS, they were really bad more like that guy out of Star Trek (Spock?) he had to wait untill he was 9 as they had grown enough by then - hes almost 21 now!

I think most plastic surgery is insane. Some might be ok, but breast augmentation is straight-up unattractive. Most men, believe it or not, would prefer smaller and natural, opposed to larger and artificial.

Er Shane, I am a bit confused here. I thought it was generally women who had breast augmentation surgery? Maybe I am getting old and behind times[msnoo].

Haha. Too bad I can't see or hear your reactions; and I'm hoping there was a twinge of sarcasm in your post! [msntongue]

I was trying to make a point that women who get implants believe that men find them more attractive... I, for one, think it's a complete turn-off.

There are thousands of women who have got very natural looking implants here in the UK that you would not even know!

There could be one standing next to you right now!

Women don't only have implants to please men they do it for themselves!!![msnwink]

my son in an effort to build his confidence and his success with the opposite sex is having more surgery on his cleft lip.

He had lots of ops when he was little and he's 23 now. His scar is very obvious and flattens his nose a bit.

I hope it is as succesful as he wants.

I'm so glad Nostromo said it before I did...I was biting my lip and my typing finger.......LOL.......[msnsmile2]

So seeing as you never had manboobs inplanted.....and we all have stopped looking at you sideways....is there anything that as a man you would have done......and remember this is a family show......[msncool]

I used to work for a plastic surgeon (a very long time ago) and most of the people having surgery privately were paid for by insurance after fires, car accidents and the like, along with some noses, boobs, etc. Obviously missed an opportunity there! :)

For myself personally? I don't think so. If anything, I'd like to get lasik surgery on my eyes...

resorthomerentals

Does lasik count as plastic surgery? I had lasik about 5 years ago and it was the best thing I ever did! After wearing realllly thick glasses for over 30 years, it still amazes me how well I can see. My prescription was so strong that they could not correct 100%. I still use reading glasses if I will be doing close work for a long period of time, but the results have been wonderful.

As far as the rest of the plastic surgery goes.... Nothing for me, unless it was a situation like Fiona's.

I've always said once i get to 40 thats when i'll think about whether or not i need a face lift. I recently had botox and face fillers. I didnt like the smile lines i had around my mouth and wanted my eyebrows lifted high when i had the botox. The effects have worn off now tho and i'm definitely up for it again. I looked about 25 again. I'm lucky, at 37 i have no lines at all not even around my eyes or forehead but i liked the botox look i had because it just firmed the face right up.

Being naturally big busted and having had kids i'd love to have a bit of liposuction and will probably think about that seriously towards the summer and eventually get a bit of a boob lift.

By the time i'm 40 i hope i'll look better than i did at 30!! LOL

I would have liposuction and a breast reduction, how Jordan copes with hers I don't know, they just get in the way[msnwink]

But before we all go booking the operating theatre, look at the state of Jackie Stallone, someone should have stopped her long ago[msnsmile2]

Mark reckons that if I had a boob reduction and lipo I would need a plant hire skip at the side of me and not a bowl [:O]:D

I have to agree I dont like the look of false boobs, they certainly dont look natural, I understand there are those poor ladies out there who are almost flat chested and feel insecure, but to add two cannon balls to your chest is crazy.

Its not too much to ask, all I want to do is drop down to a 48 Double G ( joking :D:D)

One of my younger daughter's friends (the 16yr old) had plastic surgery in october - reduction from D to B cup and liposuction on the thighs. Kid went from size 12 to 10. They had to see about 20 doctors before one would do it, I still can't believe anyone was prepared to do it, seems totally irresponsible to me.

She is now moving schools for 6th Form so no-one knows as it is the scandal of the school!

Ugh! Sounds like something right out of X-files! There was an old episode where this guy sucked out all the fat from people ( and did not even charge for it!)
