Disney News - While this news is a bit unusual, it seems the head of Universal Orlando was having an open Q&A lunch session with his staff a few weeks ago when he was asked if Universal had any plans to pursue either the Harry Potter franchise or Lord of the Rings for possible future park projects. The answer was that “Disney has Harry Potter wrapped up” and that Universal was instead checking into Lord of the Rings. This could be big news for the parks, though Disney did already buy the broadcast rights to the first Harry Potter film for ABC.

Interesting, maybe we can expect a new ride at MGM or something on a Potter theme.[msnsmile]

With all the worldwide popularity that Harry Potter is receiving, I think it was inevitable that Disney would sink their claws into him sooner or later. Yes, I can almost see that new ride now, probably a part-simulated one with plenty of CGI effects and moving seats or platforms.

I think a ride based on the Gringotts bank with all the goblins and vaults etc would be brilliant!

Or how about converted brooksticks flying through those blessed hoops as per the PS2 game HP and the Sourcer's Stone? I never did manage to get past that bit! :D

Or, how about simulated Quidditch with points given like in MiB or Buzz Lightyear?

I feel another Disney lawsuit coming on, you folks keep designing the ride and Disney will be on here and nick it [msnsmile2][msnwink](is it possible to copywright or patent this thread ?)

I have to say, I am a little surprised that one of the greats hasn't picked up on a Harry Potter ride yet! Kinda hope it is Disney in a way, but do hope they hurry up!! May the best park win;):D
