I have met Neil Armstrong on a flight, he was very charming and the Capt invited him to sit on the flight deck for landing which he accepted.(pre 9/11)
On another trip to Houston some of the crew were invited along to NASA by a friend of our Captain, it turns out that this friend was a Shuttle commander, Robert "hoot" Gibson. We visited an amazing bar with him afterwards called the Outpost. Space memorabilier covered the walls and ceiling, and apparently this is were some of the astronauts hang out.
