I don't mean where best to eat out but what best to buy that is almost the same as you can get back home.

For example I love a bbq but always have a lovely crusty french bread with it in the Uk. I've searched high and low for the similar french bread and the best I've come up with is a bake your own version. It's by Pepperidge Farm (I believe, I'll check later as I bought back an empty bag for future reference), cooks in about 5 minutes and is really very good.
Anybody else found any other versions?

What's far better than at home is Publix to-die-for Key Lim Pie. An absolute must. "Sublime lime"

Have a mooch around Publix Bakery Section...forget the calories your on vacation!

Ok. if we're discussing things from home you cant find in Kissimmee, then does any one know where to buy lamb? Love my lamb chops on the barbie. Couldn't find anywhere.

Have you tried the french bread in walmart ? they usually have it in the warming cabinet at the start of bread section it is beautiful crusty outside soft inside and not sweet like the majority of bread TIP don`t buy it until you have finished your shopping or the smell will drive you wild when you are walking round

Goodings is a useful 24 hr supermarket on the 192 near Splendid China, lots of prepared meals (like home made shepherds pie etc) in the chiller cabinet for when you just want to bung something quick in the oven. They have a good selection of food in there, may even have your lamb chops, has a deli counter etc.

Goodings is now a Winn Dixie "Market Place" and open from 6.ooam - 12.00pm.

So if you're very late arriving have to do a dash to Wal-mart now.

Anyone tried the New York cheesecake or Apple Pie from Publix? absolutely delicious - particularly the apple pie washed down with some of Ben & Jerry's vanilla ice cream.

Of course, there's always sitting by the pool forcing down some B&J's fish food!!

Goodings / Winn Dixie is very good for fresh snacks, macaroni cheese, wraps etc.

It's no good, I'm going to have to go Florida more often if I'm giving out of date info. Thanks for that, do Winn Dixie keep as good a range?

I've put it down somewhere as Goodings too!! Sorry! Find Booze is dearer here than at Publix but they do have a far better range of everthing here but more expensive.

They do all kinds of ready meals (all you need is a microwave) such as Chinese, Italian etc. Highly recommend for luxuries but would say Publix is cheaper but not as "posh".

I've got it printed (on my professionally printed, 1000 copies of) leaflet that I send out to everyone, so don't worry you're not the only one.

They seem to have exactly the same as before, layout etc. is the same, just made the hours shorter. I think the staff may have changed as people are now charming and polite!!!!

We print our own from the computer but I definitely wouldn't describe as professional!! Guests have said it's lovely to read it and makes them want to be there. Each guest comes back and let's us have ideas or comments and we add them on. It defintely helps for the first time visitor.

Wine coolers are a must to me when I'm in the US. I don't normally drink, don't like the taste of most alcoholic stuff but these wine coolers are great. I keep looking in the local ASDA to see if they've started them yet but alas no. What a shame you can't get hold of them back here.

Would have put a smile but I can't find a drunken one <img src=icon_smile_tongue.gif border=0 align=middle>

Anybody going to Florida who has children that drink only squash need not panic. You can now buy squash in Publix supermarkets. It’s a bit on the expensive side but as the Americans don’t do squash it’s the best option. Beats having to lug bottles of the stuff over there with you.

How about trying the various types of Kool Aid while you're in the USA. My kids love them even now they are older, we've still got tins of it in the cupboard that the daughter bought back for friends but couldn't bear to give them up. They come in all sorts of flavour and half the fun is making them up - a bit too sugary for me.

Albertson's at the top of Apopka-Vineland Rd-and quite possibly Tiger Wood's local supermarket-had a wonderful array of foodstuffs in a place where you could quite possibly eat off the floor.

I'm not saying they had lamb chops-but it's one place where I would start to look in the hope of finding something a bit different. I was very impressed.

There was a nice Perkins nearby if you needed refreshments.
