If you are going to be ill while you are in florida.

Try and arrange to be in Disney!!! LOL

We could not fault them.

Keith took ill whilst we where in Magic Kingdom,

They really looked after everybody,

Mum and dad, stayed in the waiting area with the children,
Keith was taken through to the ward (yes it looked just like a hospital ward). A docotor was called; he was there within a couple of minutes. They have their own pharmacy, medication given.

They were so helpful, I was panicking they started talking about hospital. If the medication did not work. They reassured me.

Another problem:
Keith was only one who was insured to drive our hire car. They said don't worry about that if keith had to go to hospital or was not fit enough to drive they would take the family back to our accommodation and deliver the hire car to the villa the next day.

I went out to see mum, dad and children in waiting room, they were sitting comfortably with cups of tea, sodas, and snacks if you please !!!

Everything turned out ok, and the disney staff were wonderful, could not fault them at all.

They even telephoned the villa the next day to ask how Keith was !!!

Wow!

I'm really impressed!

What fabulous service!

We got a puncture-just after we left Disney and joined that really busy bit of the 192 going west!

It was nightfall and a nightmare! I felt that any minute a big truck was going to plough into us-and just kept thinking-'Why didn't it happen in Disney!'

(Actually-it probably did-it was only when we got to the 192 when hubby noticed!'

It's nice to know that they take care of you well-when something like that happens!

Wow - but seriously I am glad they helped you out. Nothing worse than being ill on holiday but if you get looked after well it makes it a bit more bearable.

So pleased everything turned out so well when you think people grumble about the cost of these parks but when you see the service they give its money well spent well done Disney

In January 1999 when our son was a tiny babe in arms we went to Florida as husband John wanted a bit of nostalgia and with a new son of his own we went to Florida, John's all time favourite destination as a child.

Both he and I were taken ill for several days. With one 4 month old and confined to a hotel room it was dreadful...I said never again to Florida.

Then in November 2000 we were back again somehow he had won me round (not difficult) when this time we were going to stay in this sumptuous private villa all to ourselves. How could I refuse. That was it we were smitten.

Thanks to our stay in Forum members Mark & Emma's gorgeous home, we took the plunge ouselves and realised our dream too.

We've been caught several times with one or other of the daughters having severe nosebleeds - once at one of their water-parks.

I can't praise them enough, a nurse looked after her and managed to stop the bleeding and they gave her a soft drink once it was all over. They suggested if they carried on over the holiday we should see a doctor and after asking where we were staying (Rolling Hills) told us to go to the walk-in Medical Centre at Formosa Gardens Plaza. Both of mine have been prone to these wretched things, and it takes very little to set them off. With the younger one we are now on standby for A&E to get them to pack it they are so severe. Luckily elder one hasn't had one for years, so I am hoping it is something they grow out of.

Both me and my borhter suffered from horrendous nose bleeds when we were younger, they would come on for no apparent reason and became something that was part of day ot day life. I'm glad to say that we have both grown out of them and (touchwood!!) Havnt had one for years!

We too are really impressed by the medical team at Disney. My daughter had suffered whiplash in a car crash a year before we went. Coming down one of the slides in the dinosaur bit she fell off the end and jarred her neck. They were so reassuring and really helpful.

I, too can recommend Disney's medical assistance. My mother was 'run down' by an electric scooter in Mexico at Epcot (it could only happen to us!).

Mum's elderly and was knocked off her feet and got a grazed leg. We were immediately ushered into the medical area, she got lots of TLC, dressings, a cold drink and was feeling a bit special by the end of all this treatment.

Most surprising though was that there was no charge, even though we were willing to pay (and also had travel insurance should it have been worse).

In my opinion, Disney gets 5 gold stars for its medical facilities and free treatment. As Semerton said, the entrance price is often moaned about but they certainly provide all sorts of help and assistance free if needed.

This applies even in Downtown Disney. Our 18 year old daughter was feeling poorly, happened to be the morning we were flying home. (Wonder if there's any connection there!). At her insistence, we left her sat outside McDonalds at Downtown Disney while we took the others for some last minute shopping.

On our return we found that she had been spoken to by a Disney rep, asking if she was okay and would she like some medical assistance, and also approached by someone from the medical centre who offered help (one assumes she had been called by the Disney rep). So it's reassuring to know that they keep an eye out for any problems. Unless they thought she was a vagrant/drunk occupying a bench!! We did notice on our last visit that the bench had been removed!!

Funnily enough I spoke to a chap last week who had a very serious accident at Disney which resulted in him being paralysed from the neck down.

I don't know what they were like at the time of his accident-hopefully they were like all of the things you mentioned above- but when it came to him receiving compensation they fought tooth and claw and he saw a very different side.

It was an accident at the water parks.

Big thumbs up to Disney staff, our daughter ( 5 )slipped over as she came off the Buzz Light Year moving floor, it was wet from a storm we had, we had 2 Disney staff rush over to make sure she was OK, she was fine, sent us all straight back on the ride as a consolation. What service:D

I know this is an old topic....and I'd like to think they take care of you out of kindness....but in the end its all down to money....if you fall or are taken ill from say bad food or waiting in the heat and they just left you....you would be more likely to sue.....but if you get kind and caring care.....you're more likely to walk away happy....I think your post points out that once money becomes the thing....disney will fight it.....even if they should just pay out.....

Many years ago my wife passed out in sea world., they had asked us all
to wait on one side while somehting was being done to the ride. It was very hot and we had been waiting in the shade, we were moved into
direct sunlight and after approx 20 minutes she passed out.

They were very good and we were treated very well, When a supervisor
came over and I had a bit of a go about it being their fault, he looked a bit worried/

But she was ok and looked after well which is all that mattered. We
were given free tickets for the next day as well.

"disney will fight it.....even if they should just pay out.." I think that's unfair. I'm not here to defend corporate america, but you should bear in mind the following
1. It wouldn't be Disney, it would be their Public Liability Insurers
2. There is a plague (in the US and increasingly in the UK) of ambulance chasing lawyers who will file claims against whoever has the deepest pockets, reasoning that settling out of court for $thousands will be cheaper than fighting the claim. Firms have learned the hard way that they have to contest every claim or the flood gates will open to further frivalous claims (not that this one was frivalous)
3. We don't have the full facts. - I don't know what happened in this case, but I've seen people at the water parks who are a hair's breadth from being parylised through their own stupid antics. You can bet that if one of these idiots had an accident they would call the lawyer before they call the amulance[}:)]
