We are new members of this forum although we have been guests for a little while. We have been visiting the Orlando area regularly since 1975 and the aim has always been to buy property when we retire. That is getting close- perhaps next year.
We will be staying at Southern Dunes from December 7th for 2 weeks. Does anyone know whether the mail is delivered to the house in that area please? (We have a birthday during the stay). Also, what date does the 'snow' start to fall in Celebration?
Thank you for your help.

Hi Nannybrook

Welcome to the forum. You'd really need to ask the home owner if there is a mail delivery facility at the home you're renting. Many vacation homes don't have a mail facility because there's not always someone around to collect it but you may be able to make arrangements with home owners to have mail delivered to their home manager where you can pick it up.

For info about Celebration at Christmas, try http://www.orlandovillas.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=62&SearchTerms=celebration Most of the Christmas celebrations in the area start at the end of November or beginning of December and continue through to just past New Year.

Have a good trip!

Some of the houses have mailboxes and some dont. Think it depends on the estate. I seem to remember there is one outside Ruths house on Highlands ( do they actually deliver, Ruth??) We don't have one at all. It is a real pain. Anyone on Esprit manage to get mail??? I assume the residents must do from somewhere.

Julie

Although some homes do have mailboxes outside individual homes, some counties refuse to deliver mail to them if they are vacation homes.

Our home has mailboxes in a 'block' at strategic points around the road but these have to be 'activated' at the Post Office. Most rental home owners don't activate their mailboxes as there could be no-one there to collect the mail.

If guests want mail in Florida, by far the easiest and safest way is to get them to have this delivered to the management company or home manager so that they can collect this.

We were told by our HOA we had to have a mailbox. We duly bought one and put it up and notified the post office. To be told that they won't deliver to us as we are STR and if they delivered to every STR in the area their delivery people wouldn't get their round done.

Nice to know the spirit of service is alive in well in the PO. So any mail such as Christmas cards etc. gets returned to sender - along with our Florida residents pass.

The only way to get round this is to have a PO box which is what we are going to do.
