I didn't quite get as many good shots of the shows as I was hoping too. That said, now that I've had the test run and know where to sit I should do better next time. The forecast here is for quite a chilly weekend so what better excuse is there for spending a day or two photographing the shows again.

Excellent pictures once again!! We really did enjoy Indiana Jones

Is it just me or is that a young John Travolta in the Red lol

Steve, lets just clarify chilly, how cold is it going to be, are the gritters out yet?[msnwink]

LOL

I don't think it's going to get severe enough to warrant digging out the fleece and thermals. Might have to wear jeans instead of shorts tomorrow though.

Gaston does look a bit like John Travolta now you mention it. I love the eye contact; all the best photos of people are based on eye contact. Just goes to show that if you shoot enough eventually you get one that works well. It gets better if you crop out most of the background and just leave his head with the two girls.

Steve, do you use any Photo Editing software? I find that colour casts due to artificial lights can be a problem with indoor shots. The colour correction feature of Photoshop Elements works very well to get rid of unwanted casts.

I use photoshop back home Nostromo. As well as rebalancing the colours I would always tend to unsharp them for use on the web, and would more ideally optimise the jpeg'ing to keep the image size down so that they load really fast and responsive. These are just jpeg'd straight off the flash card.

Yes, sometimes it is necessary. In the photo with the 'Beauty' and the 'Beast' the D70's flash has bounced off the beast's reflective blue clothing onto the surroundings. You can even see it on the bannisters.

You may not believe this Nostromo but they were all taken without flash. So what you are seeing aren't colour casts but the different moods thrown by the stage lighting.

The little flash on the D70 wouldn't have any effect at that kind of range. I think if you can get the shot using stage lighting alone it captures much more of the mood of what's happening.

Thanks for the info. But on the subject of flashguns, I assumed that you have got a couple of external Nikon Speedlights to add on as necessary?
