Most restaurants have Veggie options, but some are better than others. For fine dining, Chefs de France at Epcot is wonderful. There are a few speciality Veggie restaurants like The Lower East Side, Garden Cafe etc. Olive garden, Bahama Breeze and Rainforest Cafe also have good Veg choices. Sweet Tomatoes has speciality salads, a lot of them Veggie.

We're all veggies and the Olive Garden is one of our favourites - beautiful food.

Other places we like are Chefs De France and Alfredo's at Epcot, IHOP, Perkins, Chevys and Boma at Animal Kingdom Lodge.

My son's girlfriend is a veggie and is coming with us at Easter, whilst I don't doubt we will do OK in the restaurants I am a little concerned about the fast food outlets in the parks which is where we tend to "do lunch" on a park day. Do they do things like veggie burgers and veggie hot dogs etc? I don't want her to feel left out but I don't want the carnivores to miss out either...just want to keep the peace.

You just need a bit of advance planning - e.g. Columbia Harbor House at the MK does a veggie chilli or a humous and brocolli slaw sandwich which is just beautiful. The Commissary at MGM does a great tabouleh wrap or a chinese vegetable stir fry. The Tusker House at AK does a nice grilled vegetable sandwich. Epcot has loads of nice places to eat but the ones we use are more formal e.g. Chefs De France or Alfredo's in Italy.

We had a book called something like "The Vegetarian Guide to Disney and Orlando" which you can get on Amazon. This had a very good section by section coverage of the parks.

Disney will also vary their menu on request e.g. have a chicken salad made from fresh without the chicken and they will also substitute other things to make up the taste. Just make your request at the counter and be prepared for a 5 minute wait whilst they prepare it freshly.

Thanks John, I will check out Amazon for the book. Sounds like a good option.

We had 2 strict veggies with us in all the parks Liz, and they coped without too much difficulty. As long as your veggie friends are not too fussy about the type of food they eat for quick meals, you will find salads, veggie burgers, fruit baskets, sandwiches and so on. French Fries & milkshake are available everywhere and are good 'fillers' If you order Veggie sounding soups, be careful to check that they do not contain any meat stock.

Alternatively, you can pack sandwiches to most parks, like we sometimes did.

I'd second that Nostromo - be VERY careful about the soups as just about everywhere (including restaurants) uses chicken stock as the base for soups. Also be careful about innocent sounding things like stuffed mushrooms, which I discovered stuffed with clams, much to my horror [msnsad]

I would strongly recommend Sweet Tomatoes on I-drive. It is primarily vegetarian although you do get some meat based soups. The salad bar and the pasta is delicious and if you want chicken with your salad you have to buy it in a little pot and it costs extra. We are all meat eaters and found the food to be amazing - especially for about $7.99 for all you can eat!!!!:)

We can highly recommend this place, we are all meat eater but we had a feast here, ideally located at the junction of Kirkman Road/I-Drive to call in on the way back from Universal, to let the I4 traffic clear a little when the park closes.

If you ever order a "vegetarian burger" at the theme parks just check what you are getting, I once ordered that at Sea World and got a bun with salad, they just left the top off the bun so that the person on the till could see there was no burger in there and reduce the price! They did the same at Burger King. This was quite a few years ago and things have certainly improved, they tend to call veggie burgers "garden burgers" now which means that there is a burger in there!
I can certainly recommend Sweet Tomatoes their baked sweet potatoes are lovely.

Most 'veg' burgers are the 'spicy bean' kind, although some places have quorn instead. Either way, there should be a proper burger between the bun slices, plus the ususal salad bits. As you say, things are improving.

It can be occasionally hard, but generally not a problem as long as you are not fussed on a specific type of food. As for Pasta, there are Italian restaurants all over the place and most have Veg options. Olive Garden is legendary, of course; then there is Tony's Town Square restaurant at MK and so on. Since pasta is considered as 'healthy' food, most general restaurants have pasta dishes these days.
