Yes she came through it ok though they couldnt find a vein for the anaesthetic and she had to have gas which made her feel a bit poorly on the day, though she is much better today apparently.

Good news today folks, no cancer at all in the nodes, so a big yipeeeeeeeeeee!!

Just waiting on the hormone tests and that will decide whether or not I have to have chemo, so will know on Monday.

Once again thank you all for all the lovely messages flowers and cards I have had, I feel truly thankful for such warmth, and so much from people I have never even met. We are a wonderful community on this forum[msnsmile2][grouphug].

A big thank you to you all who have been sending message of support, very much appreciated.

It seems I am hormone receptor positive so will be on Tamoxifen for 5 years. However recommendation is to have chemo for 4 - 6 sessions starting Monday.

So have 6 days to find selection of suitable scarves, hats / and or wig!!

Fiona

Ask them for a cool cap it reduced the hair loss. Not all chemo produces hair loss so lets hope yours doesn't. Keep possitive we are thinking of you.

Fiona - when my friend was having chemo she got the most brilliant wig. She liked it so much she was tempted to carry on wearing it even when her hair started to grow back :)

Keep smiling :)

Think Positive Fiona, I know you will!!! There are some real ugly people with hair[msnwink]Least you won't have that issue!!!:)Lets hope it doesn't take that route for you!! You are so positive, I am sure that can only be good for you!
My daughter has a friend at her swimming club, the girl is 11, and due to a health condition she has no hair. Bless her, she never bats an eyelid, neither does anyone at our club!!! While all the girls are messing about with shampoo & conditioner, she is outta there in no time, sometimes I thnk the other girls are a little envious actually!!
Very best wishes Fiona[msnsmile]

I lost my hair due to illness at 7.....and then had my waist length hair cut when my friend had cancer when I was 14......my hair was everything to me after losing it.....but when my friend lost her hair and nearly her life.....I made up my mind that hair was not that important......

Thanks Liesa, have just had the first bout of chemo on Monday and been absolutely and utterly tom and dick since then. I think I am beginning to see the end of it, just got the permanent queasy feeling now, but better than what I have been![msnsad] So much for the oncologist telling me I would be fine and it would hit me after 4/5 days[V]. I can't pretend I have been wondering how I am going to cope with another 4 - 5 sessions of this if it[msncry], although hopefully by then I will have recovered more from the mastectomy and therefore not so weak, and not so reliant on painkillers that I now can't keep down:(.

Tomorrow we are meant to be taking all the head office staff out for a chinese in Maidenhead, and next week the Bristol lot out down there. Somehow I think Chris will be doing this without me which is a shame as one of our Bristol staff is retiring after working for us for 16 years, so we wanted him to have a good send off and make them feel we had made the effort. Plus I wanted to go and see the new premises down there as Chris has had to do all that since I have been ill. Mind is willing, just not sure about the body - but what a way to lose weight!![msnwink]

Hi Fiona - my friend's experience of chemo was much the same as you sound. She did feel extremley sick and tired after treatment - but after the first 6/7 days she was fine. Also the more sessions she had the periods of feeling awful did get shorter. Here's hoping it does for you too [grouphug]

Take care
Julie

Fiona, I hope you are feeling much better soon. Glad to see your sense of humour is still intact.

I hope you get some respite from the nausea to enjoy Christmas with your loved ones.
