Spectacular! I paticularly like the reflections in the water. What camera were you using?

Thanks, it's a Konica Minolta Dimage Z3.
Not using a tripod so the anti-shake is invaluable (it allows for an extra couple of stops more than you would normally be able to use).
I tried the technique of holding the camera taut using the neck strap to eliminate as much shake as possible and it seems to have helped a lot.

If I had any sense I'd use a tripod like Steve but with two little monsters we carry enough with us as it is.

Great pictures.

What settings have you used on your camera, or did you used the Auto function?

The first ones are good enough for National Geographic and the night time ones are terrific.

probably a stupid question but how do you get so close to the animals to take their pics ? good zoom on your camera ?

That's easy - you wait for Brizzle to post his usual superb offerings and then you right click and choose Save - see you can take these photos[msnsmile2] (or is that not what you mean?).

To get close up photos you need a macro option on the camera which lets you focus much closer.

I never use the camera on auto, I mostly use P mode which let's me set the ISO to 50 to get the least noise but it chooses shutter/aperture, it's kind of Auto.

For night shots I play with the S mode which let's me choose the shutter speed, the spaceship earth with reflection was set to 0.6 seconds which is a pretty slow shutter speed so I'm glad it didn't blur too much.

It also has Aperture priority, great for depth of field and also a full manual mode which I don't go near at the moment.

It's a game of experimentation a lot of the time. I have loads of photo's which come out not so great.

As for getting close, it's got a 12x zoom but the butterfly & frog were taken close up with macro on. The camera also has a super macro mode which I can take photo's about 1cm or less away. It gives great detail in close shots.

I think the trick is to take loads and loads of photo's, a lot of the time take a couple of each shot just in case. If you take hundreds of photo's then some just have to come out OK :)

Wicked photos Brizz.

The reflections in the lake from the fireworks are gorgeous.

Where abouts were you at? It looks like somewhere near Japan?

The sunset is beaut too. It really captures the colours of those Orlando sunsets.

You make me want to get back there as quickly as possible.

Did you use a mini-tripod, or are you just steady handed?

MTP : I have a mini tripod but these pics were taken by pulling the neck strap taut against the back of my neck to try and steady the camera enough.

Philgrove : I just carry my camera with me and let my eye's do the seeing, if the view is nice enough I'll take a few shots. I do know that certain things like Spaceship Earth will be a good shot so do plan to do that. The one with the palm tree's was as I was sat down waiting for the girls to use the bathroom, I looked up and thought that looks nice so out came the camera.

Steve : The picture of Epcot with the reflections is just as you have entered the World Showcase before you get to Canada. I think there was a gift shop behind me. I took one last year with my old camera but it didn't come out anywhere near good enough.

I have a Benbo Trekker tripod that is not small, but light for its size. It is very versatile in any position. Uni-Pod used to make a smaller tripod with similar features.
