Hi everyone can anyone tell me whether presidents day in Feb coincides with a school break in Florida, or is it just an odd bank holiday like we have? I am trying to work out whether our 1st or 2nd week will be busier in the parks, all help would be greatly appreciated!!:)

Simon Venness' guide advises against going around the time of President's Day in February and so there might be a mini-break. I am sure others will know.
I've got a date of Feb 21st, and its the only date noted in Feb

Hi Nostrommo and thanks for your advice on buying the guide, unfortunately our half term is a week earlier next year and due to restrictions on removing my yr6 child for more than 1 week we didnt have much choice!. Still by the looks of it it should still be quieter than easter, july and Aug, lastweek of May or xmas!!!! Funnily they were our other available choices!!!:D
Would greatly appreciate the low down from anyone who may be able to expand on this. Started to look through the guide and plan, but have booked discovery cove for presidents day itself.

Think it is only a one day holiday but Americans may turn it into a short break as they don't get as many paid holidays as us in the UK. [msnsmile2]

February 22nd is Washingtons birthday, but it is celebrated as a Federal Holiday on the third monday of February which in 2005 will be Monday 21st February.
Presumably a federal holiday will mean government departments etc being closed and possibly banks.
That's exactly right. If you're not a government employee or banker, then you'll be working. The kids will be off school just for the one day, though some districts tend to make a 4 day week-end out of it.

The number you dial from the UK is 001 407 939 3463.
We ate at the Brown Derby (fab meal) and then went onto Fantasmic.
We didn't book until nearer the time, but there's no harm in being prepared:)

Does sound like the sort of break , US travellers to the Orlando area, would make the most of, due to their lack of holidays. Overall, we still found Feb to be a quiet time in the parks, evenon the busiest times.

Looks like we just miss it!!
We land on the 22nd Feb!
Oh well, [clap] Not to worry!!
We were out during President's Day this year and there was a distinct increase in the traffic for a few days, also a long wait to get into TGI's, Outback and the like. Didn't do any parks so can't comment there. On the plus side most of the shops had sales over that period.

Hi - I'm from the US and just joined the forum. I have been reading through the posts and hope I can shed a little light on this topic.
I live in Michigan and in our area each individual school disctrict sets their own vacation schedule. Some schools shut down for a full week in February, while others will not. My kids are off the 14th through the 18th of Feb. in 2005. Others in the neighboring cities are off the week before or after us. I know that this is a very popular time for us in the "North" to venture to Florida and get away from the snow & ice & frigid temps. back home. We went to Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom during our visit last Feb. AK was fine, but MK was VERY crowded.
Hope this helps some!
We are going over between 20th to 27th Feb to stay at our villa and am glad to hear that there are sales during this time. We were lucky to have a week during sales tax holiday in July this year and I thought that the main sales were in Nov so this is a pleasant surprise.
