View Full Version : July 4 Arranged - What about other days??
Hi all
We are in Florida next June/July and I need a bit of help with my planning.
I have booked for us to go to Discovery Cove on 4 July. At least I know there will be room for us there!!
Now does anyone have any ideas for the rest of that weekend - where to go on the Saturday/Sunday. We were thinking of Animal Kingdom on the Saturday and maybe a rest day on the Sunday. According to Simon Veness book (by the way the 2005 version is out now) Saturday is a good day for Animal Kingdom, but will that change given that it is busy weekend anyway.
I would be really grateful for your views/opinions - anyone been at this time of year?
Celebration at night for the fireworks. There are various events from about 5pm onwards with the fireworks at about 9pm.

It will be quite busy 4th of July weekend as the American children will already be on summer vacation from school, arrive early to avoid disappointment and leave early afternoon for a rest before the evening festivities. Don't miss the fireworks though, they should be spectacular.[msnsmile2]

IF your not too tiried from Discovery I would recommend an evening at Celebration as they have wonderful fireworks at nights, stands outside for eating and drinking from all their local places. There are many local parks that also boast day and evening events with fireworks that all start about 9pm.

What time would we need to get to Celebration and what is is like for parking. :D
Parking is tight if you arrive late (we couldn't get there until about 8pm). We had to park up near the offices that you can see from the 192 and walk in. Mind you, we enjoyed that almost as much as the fireworks as we were able to see through the windows of the homes and see them close up. Our bank in the US is in Celebration so it's a good excuse when we are there to have a meal or coffee, and we also like the AMC cinema complex there.
Espirit who posts on the forums lives in Celebration and I'm sure she would let you have info nearer the time when the programme is published.

Esprit - if you are out there, any info nearer the time would be more than appreciated.

I would try getting there no later then 6pm..There is a big parking problem but the walk is a nice one..I suppose anywhere you go on the 4th will be a mad house.

Yes, I am expecting everywhere to be busy on the 4th - that's why I booked Discovery Cove for that day. At least I know we will get in there:D
Have you been at this time of year as we are not sure what the crowds will be like on the Saturday/Sunday, although I realise it will be fairly busy everywhere due to the American School Holidays.
