There's a person on another message board I go on saying he has a '1000 shot repeater' firework ready for tomorrow night[V][V][V][V][V]

So, if you hear that the town of Leigh is no longer in existence you know the possible reason. There are some idiots out there!!!

I love fireworks if they are colourful, but the ones that just bang and make it feel like the houses are shaking with the reverberation are horrible.

now you've started me off Maggie!!!!!!!
ruddy fireworks they drive me mad!!!!
why is it when people come out of the pubs so late at night they think they should let off really horrible noisy things!!!!!!!!why cant they just be on sale on November 5th and again on New years eve??
my poor cat i get so scared when shes out incase she gets launched into outer space on the end of a rocket!! well it has been heard of more then once!!!
dont get me wrong, its fine at displays and garden dos on bonfire night but theyre going off round here in Brighton all the time!!!!!!!!!!!!!
if it aint chris eubanks letting them off, its the students!!!!! and the kids who shouldnt be allowed to buy them in the first place!!!!!!!!
i could go on!!!!!!!!!!![msnwink]

but i wont!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!![zzz]

I agree with LiesaAnna. My poor dog shakes all over and doesn't know what to do with himself every evening. Fine if it was for the one night, 5th November, but they start letting them off start of October and on and on it goes.[msnmad]

We love fireworks especially the ones at the parks!!! However the loud bangers that are set off late at night really wake up Alex.....

Lets keep fireworks to the nice displays and not try burning down garden fences with catherine wheels!!!!! It's a long story.....[msnwink]

We live opposite a park, it`s just across the road. We always let off our fireworks there, as do most of others in our road. It`s really good because you not only see your fireworks but everyone elses as well and it`s a nice atmosphere.

I agree about the big noisy bangs they are usually let off around by us very late at night and usually when you are in bed. Someone let one off in the entry once, it was such a loud boom that the house shook. I like all the nice pretty coloured ones

Be careful Mandy as letting off fireworks in a Public Place can now be subject to ASBO's if someone makes any type of complaint to the police. I agree that if the whole street is letting them off in your park can be good fun however, if something goes wrong and the amount of fireworks i would guess between you all you would have i would think the Police would take a very dim view.
I'm not wanting to sound all 'Goody Goody' because when i was a wee nipper i was probably one of the worlds worst for letting off fireworks(Hence why i do it properly now!). With these new laws that came into effect earlier this year the Police a clamping down on what they call 'Loutish Behaviour' and although it is mainly aimed at 'minors' letting off a large amount of fireworks in a public park may not be looked at very lightly.

Anyways i hope you all enjoy yourselves tonight whatever you are doing and just remember please be safe. [msnsmile]

All i can say is stay safe. If you are letting off fireworks yourself, keep a very safe distance, do not let minors anywhere near the fireworks, lit or unlit! If you must give your Children Sparklers ensure they are wearing gloves (Although to be honest, you wouldn't give your child a welding torch so why give them a sparkler. The sparklers reach similar temperatures to that of welding equipment!)
Never, i repeat never go back to a firework after it has been lit ane especially if it doesn't go off. Allways have a large amount of water to hand so you can douse the fireworks that didn't go off.
Most of it is commom sense but you will be surprised at what little common sense some people have.

At the end of the day i would suggest your best bet would be to go to an organised display if you can. If they have been organised properly and are being fired by specialist people then you will see some of the most spectacular fireworks possible which are not available to the General Public. I have seen a lot of new fireworks this year and to be honest they are miles better than ewhat i have seen in recent years!!!

I am doing two displays at the moment this weekend and i promise that these will be the best in the areas they are being held (No i am not blowing my own trumpet, i know what fireworks are going into the shows!!!!)

Thanks again!!
we're having a bonfire but thats mainly to get rid of old furniture and carpets, thought we'd make the most of it and have a small box of fireworks as well, altho as you know from previous postings, not keen on fireworks at home![8D]

I hate them-when I was a kid someone at my school got badly burned in the face by a firework--- Having seen Epcot fireworks the local display doesnt hold much excitement anyway!!!

I went (under duress) to a display last year and they had a bonfire onto which they put rubbish such as crisp packets - these caught fire and flew into the air over the crowd which was watching the fireworks in the other direction- with their backs to the bonfire- being paranoid- I moved my family to the other side (with great protest that I was being fussy!) then unfortunately an ignited crisp bag landed on a girls hair....... she was ok....

We left shortly after that!!

Dont fancy one this year but cant persuade the kids not to.....

My poor dog will be shut in the kitchen with the radio up loud....

One year we looked after a friends dog while they wentto hong kong- in November the dog pewked up every time it heard a bang! Lots of local fireworks-----Had a very messy living room !!!!

To be fair, having seen the fireworks in Disney (many times now), nothing beats them does it? I am a strong believer that fireworks should NOT be sold to individuals but only be available to larger, licienced organisers. I have not seen anything to match Disney's shows, and certainly not a few pops(or Bangs) in someones back garden! Sadly, the world we live in means too often these things get in the wrong hands!
None the less, if you are going to indulge this evening at a local party, enjoy and be safe everyone [msnwink]

I love fireworks in displays. We live on the north/west coast and our house backs onto a park and then beyond that is the sea, so we have lovely views. Every year, hear in Southport, there are musical fireworks championships held. This year for the first time they were let off from the beach behind our house. It was amazing. 6 pirotechnic companies competed over two nights and the fireworks were set to music. Its the only time I have seen displays that matched and even bettered the Disney ones.

I also think fireworks should be kept to displays. We are off to one tonight with our boys to celebrate our 6th wedding anniversary

I don't know how they all afford the number they let off for weeks. Our little box cost £22 for about 20 mins of fun. It's all gone quiet here now, hope it stays that way next week.

Do you all get a lot on New Years Eve since the Millenium...we do. This year we'll be over in Fla .....do they have fireworks???????

It would be impossible to enforce, but I wish we only had to have them on Nov 5th and perhaps the nearest weekend. There seems to be so many bangers in recent years. My dog dislikes them as much as me. We race through our night walk at a terrific speed. Chloe
