In the battle of the Halloween horror nights, Busch gardens won hands down over Universal in my opinion. More haunted houses and scary zones and two shows rather than just one. Also much less crowded and fewer queues. The best thing at Universal was the Bill and Ted show which was really raunchy for a theme park show ( a lot of things you did not know about the Scooby do crew!!) I also liked the talking fountain who liked insulting people. And Screamhouse was the best haunted house. But the whole thing relied heavily on dry ice so you could not see where you were going.
At Busch, somehow between 5.00 pm and 7.30 when it re-opened, all the animals got penned away and loads of spooky events put in place. Moreover all the roller coasters and water rides were open. And more pumpkin heads, ghosts, ghouls, moving trees and statues than you can imagine. Not so much dry ice either! Escape from Insanity and The Jack the ripper zone were the best haunted houses. Really good value at only $19.95 for a resident and $29.95 for a non resident for a week night. Open until 1 pm.
